According to the field of psychology, ALL human behavior is motivated by one of only two things
1. The expectation of pleasure or reward or
2. The avoidance of pain or punishment
Evaluate your own behavior and see if this statement is indeed true.
I don't follow links, especially video links, so this may already have been noted.
The lies at which I most commonly catch myself, are the lies I tell myself with this common theme: I move myself from being in the wrong to being in the right. One recent example: I could have easily stopped at a yellow light, instead I sped through it. This was not the best choice, but I easily came up with excuses: I was in a hurry; being caught at a red light at that particular intersection is painstakingly long. (No lie about that.) Even so, I lied to myself about making that choice to move myself from wrong into right.
Sure, common reasons for lying is to make the story (about myself, of course) more interesting. However, a few months ago when I made myself keep track of all my little lies to myself, I was astonished first (dismayed second) at how often I lied to myself about the littlest things. It's been a hard habit to break. We (at least I do) spend too much time justifying ourselves and our choices to ourselves.
People never lie.
Only to lie is not really a sin - and sometimes a lie is even able to be a heroic deed. If you like to be perfect then your have also to learn to lie. I say in such cases: "The perfect is not perfect."
