Remember when the Discovery Channel had stuff like this?



Now all they have are rich vapid reality show stars and rednecks!



History Channel too! When did swamp people become cooler than WW2 weapons?

And the Science Fiction channel!



and now they have nothing but wrestling, ghosts, and shark tornados!



All this because of a woman named Bonnie Hammer!

Instead of infantilizing they could have made a show that combined soap opera drama with space travel! Beverly Hills meets Houston!



Why were we so obsessed with reality shows in the early 2010s?

Why did we stop dreaming of space? Of a better future for humanity?

Correct. A&E used to be my favorite network. Now it's a carnival sideshow. Ditto for TLC. I don't know that you can narrow it down to one year.

I haven't had cable in about 6 months and I don't think I'm ever going back to getting it. I'm just paying for some subscription services and so far, so good on that front.
