I don't know too much about aromatherapy, but there are certain scents that perk me up like citrus, coffee, good weed, flowers and so on. Some smells even give me deja vu feelings like certain shampoos, the smell of electrical tubes and salty ocean air....perfumes.

Do scents have the power to ease your pain or boost your mood?

Is aromatherapy a fad or an important part of a holistic approach to healing?

Is your nose a pathway to your brain?

Experts are looking at questions like these and discovering that potent, plant-based scents may just have a place in the science of health and healing.

As many people look for natural (and safe) remedies for trouble sleeping, chronic pain and more, essential oils such as lavender, jasmine, ginger and spearmint are surging in popularity.

It's true that the research is limited. But some small studies do suggest that aromatherapy can be beneficial. And when it comes down to it, how you feel may be the most important thing: Many people report that essential oils help them feel better by easing nausea, soothing sore muscles or promoting relaxation after a stressful day.

I'd rather have some of those good drugs.

I don't take drugs either. Aspirin or ibuprofen are what we have. I messed my back up pretty good some years back and docs always offer, but I've seen what pain meds can do to someone.

I have taken them a couple times in the hospital, and I just about levitated over the bed and sang Happy Days Are Here Again.

Tried tumeric and some other stuff, but I remain unimpressed.

Cut grass, jet exhaust, Thai curry, Poy Sian.

I think those would work on me...but none of those stupid hippie oils.

If I smash my thumb with a hammer, I will forget about the pain in my back for a few minutes.

You need to try the 1000 mg turmeric oil capsules...... They're not cheap - about twenty bucks for 60 softgels, but they work for almost any kind of inflammation......( at least in my experience )

I cracked my ribs in the US last year, and ended up in the ER.

I don't know what was in those pain killers they gave me, but I felt......nice.
