The Ds are likely to take over the House and will certainly pick up House seats, well and good. Will they pick up net seats in the Senate? No. Will the Rs reach 60 or more seats, it depends on what are the findings of the investigation into the witch hunt and how quickly they are obtained.

The real existential threat to the democratic party are the illegalities their state and local officials have been getting away with because of the leftist justices appointed by Obama, W and Clinton. If Kavanaugh is confirmed at about 9 to 1 odds in favor then the D bench will get hit worse than it was under Obama.

Because of the SALT deduction cap the Blue Wall will lose massive numbers of seats due to losing their tax base. Those who cannot move out will be very unhappy with the Ds.

Why do the Ds think this result will be good for them?

I don't think many people are going to move because of loss of deductibility.
Certainly not enough to cause a large number of seats to move.

there are a long list of attack points but the best known is that sanctuary cities and states violate immigration laws in felonious means. Accessory before and after to murder, claiming state jurisdiction over federal police and so on.
