Prohibits law enforcement officials and law enforcement agencies of this state or counties, municipalities and political subdivisions from restricting or limiting the enforcement of the federal immigration laws to less than the full extent permitted by federal law.
· Requires officials and agencies to reasonably attempt to determine the immigration status of a person involved in a lawful contact where reasonable suspicion exists regarding the immigration status of the person, except if the determination may hinder or obstruct an investigation.

· Stipulates that if the person is arrested, the person’s immigration status must be determined before the person is released and must be verified with the federal government.

· Stipulates that a law enforcement official or agency cannot solely consider race, color or national origin when implementing these provisions, except as permitted by the U.S. or Arizona Constitution.

· Specifies that a person is presumed to be lawfully present if the person provides any of the following:

Ø A valid Arizona driver license.

Ø A valid Arizona non-operating identification license.

Ø A valid tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification.

Ø A valid federal, state or local government issued identification, if the issuing entity requires proof of legal presence before issuance.

I think it's more a rally to defend gross incompetence. They actually believe that it is just to pay the Federal Government to not do It's job, and as a bonus obstruct any one else that tries to remedy the mess caused by the dereliction. The leap that because the Federal Government has a charge they fail to implement, nobody else has a right to act, is an offense in itself. Could you not put out a kitchen fire because you are not a member of a Fire Department? Hint.... Do you live in a Union town?

My humble advice to the Federal Government, is first learn to do your job, then improve in effect. Then become the shining example. Then lecture from experience. Happy Happy, Joy Joy.

I don't think it is about racism Jillian. Most in Arizona have heavy Latino relations and ties, it is the invasion of a corrupt culture, that has an increasing mortality rate. You are in Brooklyn, I'm in Queen's, the tone on the streets here has changed dramatically. Police presence keeps a lid on it still, but should budget effects here further limit that, we are going to revert back to what would make the Lindsey years look like a picnic. Either we live by the Rule of Law, or we suffer the unintended consequences. From zoning, housing, vice, break-in's, everything is being over looked here. How does this reflect on quality of life. We are perpetuating a new serf class. That is not good for them or us.

Actually its the conservatives that are lying. The problem many have with the law is "demand proof of citizenship for those suspected of being illegal" and the complete vagueness of the law. Also, Arizona borders Mexico, so who are the majority of illegals in that region, let alone the countries? People from mexico, so its more likely than not that hispanic people will be targeted to have to show citizenship.

Of course the repubs are also questioning the constitutionality of this law - but - it's the repubs who seem to not be in hystercis about it and spreading fear and panic. The dems and libs are taking care of that end of it in order to gain the hispanic vote. It has been reported that the majority of hispanics WHO VOTE are against an amnesty and want something done about securing the border. The dems have it ALL wrong!
