Migrant Buses Compared to 1962 'Reverse Freedom Rides' of Black Families

The JFK Library compared DeSantis flying migrants to Martha's Vineyard to southern segregationists organizing bus rides to the north for Black families in 1962.

"As the Republican governors of Texas, Arizona and Florida send busloads and planeloads of migrants to liberal bastions in the north to protest President Joe Biden's immigration policies, some have struck a comparison with a dark and mostly forgotten chapter of American history: the Reverse Freedom Rides of 1962. For some, the narrative that has guided the migrants to the liberal bastions in the north sounded familiar.

The Boston-based John F. Kennedy Presidential Library has drawn a parallel between the busing migrant crisis and DeSantis' program to fly planeloads of migrants outside of state lines to the Reverse Freedom Rides of 1962, when white southern segregationists tricked hundreds of Black Americans into moving north, promising them they would find jobs and housing in liberal states."




While Trumpers are pumping their chest and high-fiving each other over sending "LEGAL ASSYLUM SEEKERS" to northern cities like they just came up with something new; those of us who aren't afraid to study history are rightfully reminding Conservatives that none of their ideas are new. This is just a repeat of what racist white segregationists did back in the 60's; when they were pissed about black people being treated as equal citizens....If you listened to the rhetoric of those "DEMOCRATS" back then; it is nearly word for word the rhetoric "REPUBLICANS" are using today......why are Republicans resorting to using ideas created by racist Democrats?

In 1962, the "Reverse Freedom Rides" was a trolling campaign launched by Conservatives to retaliate against the history-making Freedom Rides organized by MLK and SNCC; you know, the Civil Rights movement that today's Conservatives claim to had supported; but can't name you a single prominent Conservative who was actually down South fighting for Civil Rights...The racist reverse Freedom ride scheme was eerily similar to what we are seeing today -- Conservatives lying to black families about the promise of high-paying jobs and free housing; kinda like they are doing with the other brown people they hate....so...why are Conservatives still using the tired ideas and rhetoric of racists of the past?? Oh, I know why -- because they are Conservatives...it's what they do...

I'll have to admit, democrats usually come up with the ideas first and then Republicans say, "What a great idea, we should do that too!". If it weren't for Democrats, Republicans would never come up with these ideas.
