Why are citizens so confused about the economy?

Does any member believe the Americans are not confused about the economy? Economists are confused. So naturally we get confused. Is it Adam Smith or Austrian Economics? Have you studied as I have those and Milton Friedman? Not so you are annoyed, but who read the remarks earlier by the person who discussed COLA and his situation?
