According to the US Treasury Department , the largest currency denomination ever printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing was the $100,000 series 1934 gold certificate, which featured a portrait of President Woodrow Wilson.
That bill would be worth $1,700,000 in today's currency.

Rumor has it that the Treasury Department is preparing to release to the public new currency bearing the likeness of Barak Hussain Obama, which will be the legacy of the President.

The new currency will be in the form of both coin and bill.

The denomination, quite fittingly, will be three dollars.

No bills over $100 have been printed since 1945 and those remaining were taken out of circulation under an Executive Order by Nixon.

I'm aware of the trillion dollar coin and as you'll note, that is a coin, not a bill, and it's also not in circulation.

I think it's time to start printing the $500 again. $100 bills are the most printed currency now. They basically have almost the buying power today that a $20 did 40 years ago.
