Atheists specialize in creating the most horrific ways to treat their fellow man. And remember at the heart of every Marxist/Socialist/Democratic Socialist regime is atheism. And the end result of all atheist regimes is mass extermination of human beings. This has never not been the case.

Including pol pot, what you should ask is why he supported anti Vietnamese forces after they had liberated Cambodia from a madman? and the Vietnamese intervention was started after the Khemer Rough attacked Vietnam in what was known as the Parrot's beak, the US and UK under thatcher also recognized Cambodia's seagt at the UN under PolPot.

The Soviets and the Chinese Communists murdered far more people than Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan did.

I respect Victor Davis Hanson as a person, and I agree with many of his views, but he has some serious blind spots when it comes to WWII.

Why is that?

It's not really a competition, but the Japanese targeted anyone who wasn't Japanese, they weren't as specific as the Nazis were. For them it was also pure economic exploitation, not the dedicated desire to eradicate Jews and Slavs as with the Nazis.

Individual acts of cruelty were more a part of the Japanese killings, where the Nazi ones were more systemic.

And to me part of the desire for revenge against the Japanese was satiated by the atom bombs against them, which we didn't have the opportunity to use against the Germans.
