While Some Lighten Up on Lockdown Lunacy, Others Double Down
It is becoming incontrovertible that the lockdowns were a bad idea, ruining millions of lives and doing little if anything to mitigate damage from COVID-19:
Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar confirmed Sunday there has not been a spike of coronavirus cases in states that have re-opened.
Speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Azar told host Jake Tapper that officials are actually seeing the opposite — a spike in cases in areas that remain locked down.
No wonder Texas officials are lightening up on the senseless tyranny:
Barbershops and salons that defied a statewide order to close will not be penalized by state regulators after Gov. Greg Abbott changed shutdown rules in response to the jailing of a Dallas salon owner.
Shelley Luther’s defiance paid off.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has dropped 200 enforcement cases against barbers and cosmetologists who allegedly kept working in April and early May, despite Abbott’s order to close amid the coronavirus outbreak. The agency also dismissed around 180 complaints that had been filed but not yet investigated…
The move comes after Abbott amended his order amid GOP outcry over the jailing of Shelley Luther, who reopened her Dallas salon in defiance of local and state stay-at-home orders.
A characteristic of a good leader is that he can admit when he was wrong and try to make amends.
A characteristic of a terrible leader is that he doubles down on mistakes, like Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker, who has gone in the opposite direction from Abbott by adding jail time to the punishment for failing to comply with his pointless and ruinous lockdown decrees:
Owners of businesses such as restaurants, bars, barbershops, salons, and gyms could now face a fine up to $2,500 and up to one year in jail for operating in defiance of shutdown orders implemented in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
Traditionally, legislatures write the laws and the executive branch only enforces them. But this no longer applies when there is a bug going around and a tyrant in the Governor’s Mansion.

Doubling down on stupid is part of the marxist religion. The State is supreme and infallible. You are not important, merely a dutiful drone of the state. Who are YOU to question information provided by the State... hmm?

Plutocrats got a steady paycheck coming in. Cops and prosecutors and judges got a steady paycheck coming in.
They couldn't give 2 fucks about anyone else. They got the power, and they have the control!
BTW, did I mention that they have a steady income when most of their subjects don't?

Trump left it up to the governors of the states to craft their own response (since they would tend to be more familiar with what was going on), and it worked with the RED STATES...

Unfortunately, the dumbass governors of the BLUE STATES (elected by the even dumber voters) screwed the pooch, and now they are doubling down in an effort to cover for their stupid mistakes!!!

Your chance of dying from COVID-19 is notably higher if you live in a blue state.

At present, there are 26 states with Republican governors, 24 states with Democratic governors, and D.C. This is an imperfect breakdown of red and blue states, of course. For purposes of this discussion, however, we will assume “conservative” Democratic governors in red states cancel out “RINO” governors in blue states. That leaves us with the following.

In our 26 red states, the average coronavirus death rate per million is about 82. In the 24 blue states, plus the District of Columbia, it’s about 235. On average, then, you are about 2.9 times more likely to die of COVID-19 if you live a blue state than if you live in a red state. But averages mean little in the real world. If you live in New York, your chance of dying of coronavirus is 11 times higher than if you live in Georgia. The numbers change depending on the relative states, of course, but the most predictive factor is whether you prefer blue or red. The former preference appears to be bad for your health.

The Washington Post did its part today to obstruct freedom by blaring headlines”Maryland cases soar Tuesday after reopening” while failing to mention until the small print at the e d that the number of tests had increased by almost 3X.
Not news , not even journalism. Just hype and misinformation
