"Where there are fathers, there are no gang members" ~Shawn James

How do you think politicians have caused it?

Policies that have been put in place over the years.

For example the policy of presenting the perfect family from the 1950s onward didn't help. You can see with TV programs at that time, it wasn't until Rosanne got on TV that you have dysfunctional families. This meant that people have way too high expectations.

Also policies of pushing people to work lots. Other countries were trying to reduce working hours, but the US didn't, preferring money to social stability.

I'd also suggest that income inequality has played a part. The US has massively high income inequality compared to other first world countries.

The UK also has high levels of single parent households, not as high as the US, but closer than other countries. Thatcher helped to destroy the family by promoting economic policies that helped tear families apart. You see below that the 1980s were devastating for the UK.

we have got to reverse every single effort to stifle masculinity. THAT will solve a SHIT TON of these problems.

Hi, BLF. Unfortunately, at this point in American societal evolution, I am inclined to agree with you.

Sadly, large numbers of women, also known as Maternal Child Caregivers, have abdicated their responsibility to children, allowing non-family members to raise and influence the children they chose to create while claiming they have the skills to raise fatherless children who mature into reasonably well-adjusted teen and adult citizens.
