Also Vietnam wasn't a direct conflict with another major nuclear nation.

But other major nuclear nations were indirectly involve (ex. Soviet Union gave aid to North Vietnam)

Aside from China, the US is the only country that doesn't recognize Taiwan as an independent country. According the the State Department, the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government of China, acknowledging the Chinese position that there is but one China and Taiwan is part of China.

Actually, nobody recognizes Taiwan as an independent country, because it maintains (still) that is the legitimate government of China. Few countries support that claim. The UN gave China's vote in the UN to Beijing in the 1970's before Jimmy Carter.

In 2019, Kiribati and the Solomon Islands both switched their recognition of Taiwan to China within a week. After losing two more countries, only 14 of the 193 UN countries recognize Taiwan, plus the Holy See.

And who made this decision in 1979? Jimmy Fucking Carter, that's who. Thanks a lot, you peanut-headed commie bastard.

Actually, if you want to blame anyone, it was Tricky Dick who went to China and played the Chinese off against the Soviets.
