There's the socialist but freethinking left or the capitalist but religious right (by current associations). The directions, going sideways as they do, sometimes actually get things right, but only by accident in pursuit of their own self-serving agendas.

But there's also the authoritarian, oppressive down, and the libertarian equal rights for all, up. Authoritarians are, of course, openly self-serving--though some will deny that as a matter of form, it's still blatantly obvious. Libertarians, being human, are still subject to being corrupted of course, but on the odds alone....and they're proceeding from a better starting point as well.

I, of course, am a libertarian, that is, on the UP.

Help us all out here....

When the pendulum on that gigantic clock swings to the right, will "right" be from the perspective of the viewer or the perspective of the pendulum? Which side of the clock cabinet, from the clock's perspective, is gonna get busted?

Social Nationalist.

To quote myself from yesterday, a socialist by any other name would stink as bad. Speaking of which:

Major quibbling. The only direction you need to know is which way out yo ass is.

I'm so sick of this extremist bullshit. Being left doesn't necessarily mean you are a socialist. In fact I would say most lefties I know do not believe in socialism. The right wants to believe anyone on the left is a socialist because it makes it easy to demonize and/or dismiss them.

Pay attention. I believe in capitalism. I believe in the free market. However I also believe the market needs to be regulated. I believe the extremes of the wealthy and poor be LIMITED, NOT ELIMINATED. I fully support the idea of a wealthy class. I simply think their power should have caps. Right now the wealthy have way too much power. Power that is negatively effecting the lower classes.

Capitalist, but not religious. To the extreme, anyway.

Sent from my ass using USMessageBoard.com

A libertarian is a capitalist by default. And the generic term "religious" includes a lot more than the meaning currently in use, including me. I spend more time on the religious forum here than the political ones. We must get our "religious" heads on straight before we can get the political ones set right.

Conservative libertarian. Not as loose as your typical Libertarian. I also prefer a closed border policy.

Even Republicans are socialists now. When you say socialism think fascism which is big government control without ownership.
The right wants to believe anyone on the left is a socialist because it makes it easy to demonize and/or dismiss them.

The right that believes that is mostly correct, but then they undermine themselves with their religious irrationality.

I agree to an extent, particularly anti-trust laws.

Extremes limited to what arbitrary limit and by who? You do that it's inevitably arbitrary which opens the door to a legal double standard--the root of all evil. And "poor" by what standard: Singapore, the US, the Global average of $5000/yr., or N. Korea? There is no real poverty in the US. It was JFK that said, correctly, that a rising tide lifts all boats, but demagogues will always point to the bigger boats and call them greedy.

If it does rob from the lower classes through inequality under the law, then fix that. The foundation of equal rights under the law is the protection of property rights, as the USSR and China have started coming to understand. The power right now is in the hands of big government. Yes they sell their influence to corporations to grow their power, but the decision to do that or not is in the hands of the officials. With LBJ, we extended Roosevelt's initial socialist programs, and were transformed into something only one step above a banana republic. Corruption is deeper now than we can imagine, with presidents flaunting their violation of the Constitution openly.

The problem is that while capitalism may be the most successful economic system. it is still flawed. It is flawed if there is not enough government regulation to reign in the mega wealthy's self serving agenda. Productivity has grown exponentially in the lower classes since the 1930s yet wages have remained flat. The wealthy on the other hand have seen their wages sky rocket. That is the flaw in our system. The wealthy dictate the quality of life for everyone.

So rather than fine tune the most successful economic system, we should go to a much less successful and oppressive system?
Productivity has grown exponentially in the lower classes since the 1930s yet wages have remained flat.

Not even the minimum wage (another arbitrary and unjustified marker) has remained flat. From $0.25 in 1938 to $7.25 in 2009--that's up 28X.

The wealthy on the other hand have seen their wages sky rocket. That is the flaw in our system. The wealthy dictate the quality of life for everyone.

The wealthy don't dictate it, the market does, and the only way to keep the market out of it is to have the government dictate it--and we've seen where that leads.

Socialists, such as yourself, have a hard time understanding that setting the government to be its own watchdog, and having it as the only one with the power to dictate laws and the legal prerogative to use deadly force in enforcing them.....well, I would hope you get the picture.

I am for free market and capitalism. My faith is also very important to me, and I have conservative views on most social issues. I have been told on occasion that I am a compassionate conservative.

Well good. But then there's that word compassion. It's as misunderstood and misused as much as the word "greed". I don't pretend to judge what's in your heart, only you can do that.

I believe that most of us are genuinely concerned for others well being, some just don't show it.

Conservative democrat. Mostly I argue with myself.

Fiscal conservative
Moderate in everything else

:)

from all the silly online testing

I'm middle right with the tiniest tick up

did you actually want to know or just boasting that libers are placed at the top of testing grafs that could easily be flipped?

I'm either Classical Liberal or Libertarian depending on how you word the language of the qualifications.

I believe in the Constitution, liberty for everyone, smaller government, capitalism, personal responsibility, fiscal responsibility, and national defense.

Um if by tuning you mean more regulation and taxation, then yeah let's tune it. Don't be stupid. I never said we should do away with it.

How about you see the facts for yourself? It's in my signature. A raise in minimum wage is hardly the whole story, ass clap
