What would you do with the second amendment?

What should be done with the second amendment?

  • Repeal it and replace it with an amendment banning all guns in private hands

  • Repeal it and give Congress unlimited power over regulating guns, including banning them

  • Give States the power to decide what their gun rights and restrictions should be

  • Leave it, Congress already regulates guns, but they should not have the power to ban them

  • Follow the second amendment and declare most or all current gun regulations Unconstitutional

Results are only viewable after voting.
I picked start following the Constitution which does not give government any power over our gun rights

The meaning is clear so all gun laws are unconstitutional. That said, absent incorporation progressives would be constitutionally free to attempt to ban guns at the state level. But since they insist everything be a federal issue they have no leg to stand on.

Regardless of the Constitution, however, people have the right to defend themselves.

Leave it alone and institute sensible gun regulations
The problems with your so called "sensible" gun regulations are that they only affect law abiding citizens.

Yours is the correct answer.

If you dumped every regulation right now...nothing would change. The vast,
overwhelming majority aren't going to harm anybody. Never have and never
will.

And, the law of large numbers, always applies.

Hence, why safety regulations are trying to "keep it down to a dull roar."

The People are the Militia.

Agreed.

...and the people are also the government.

Let's get to the end game. What should the Constitution say, if anything, about guns and what power should the Federal government have to regulate them?
Funny how great minds all seem to think alike on this matter.

The slippery slope to violating the 2nd Amendment began with laws about freed slaves having guns after the U.S. Civil War.

This was followed with gangsters not allowed to have submachine guns legally (it is very expensive to get a license) and then nobody having them.

This then led to a ban on automatic rifles, after these were finally invented shortly before WW2.

Then we got Slick Willy's ban on semi auto high cap mag rifles like the AR's and the AK's. (The Ruger's luckily were exempt from the ban.)

The whole situation is a mess now.

And the majority of the population is anti gun and gun fearing.

Our Second Amendment is clear as to what is Necessary to the security of our free States.
