Suppose you had a friend ( not very close one), he or she has mental disease like bipolar disorder and may go insane at times. What would you do?
Tolerate him or her in the difficult position or just go away and slight him or her?

Depends.
Are they nicely nuts or poke me in the head with a knife nuts?

Many of us have had analogous experiences with friends who occasionally get high, and act outrageously when high.

Since you can't really affect peoples' behavior, it's best just to avoid them when they are acting crazy. You don't want to get caught up in a shit-storm that you, personally didn't create. (An auto accident, a bar fight, major vandalism, and so on).

Right. It'll be better to keep them at a distance.

It kind of depends on your temperament. Women who are bipolar can just go off the hook with little or no warning. If you are thinking about getting in relationship with one you'd better ready to check your temper after she bashes you over the head with microwave oven or some other small appliance or tries to run you over with her car for no apparent reason. And just run away from her instead of hitting her back, otherwise you could easily find yourself in the county jail on a charge of domestic violence.
