Since when does a politician start balking about the cost of saving human lives BEFORE the disaster actually happens? I swear, Cantor has his head so far up is ideological ass that he's just beyond rationality!

Eric Cantor: Federal Hurricane Disaster Relief Would Have To Be Offset By Spending Cuts

Maybe because emergency relief costs money, so it needs to come from somewhere?
What is so difficult to understand about that?

I have helped with disaster response while woking for the military and I can tell you it is a huge effort and costs a lot of money. Supplies don't just appear out of thin air, they have to be purchased.

So whats wrong from diverting money from welfare abusers who don't need it to people who do need it?

eric cantor is most probably suffering from ptsd after this supersniper hit the window of his campaign office and positioned the bullet on the floor. as a warning.

Whatever happened to PAYGO?

in 2004, when his home state of Virginia was struck by Tropical Storm Gaston, Mr. Cantor voted against a bill that would have required the same pay-as-you-go rule that he now advocates.

Daffy has something to say to Cantor about that.

I, on the other hand, expect this from politicians. I do think emergency expenditures should be exempted from PayGo, if we had it, but this is not the same thing. We are currently spending way too much money, and spending more without making sure it comes out of someone's budget makes no sense.

He's a typical Republican. They care nothing for the middle class even though the majority of their base is middle class. They understand that because we have a black president, Republicans will vote for anything white, no matter how it hurts them. They hate the black guy more.

Again, the enemy of the Liberal is the REAL World and the facts that reside therein.

The House has already passed the bill to help the victims of Irene's stay in their fair cities. The Bill is currently stalled in the Senate. Again. Is anyone else a little miffed at the ongoing lethargy and sloth of the Dems in the Senate?

Even the Huff&Puff Post knows the facts even though they don't understand the reality.

He was a useful political insurgent, a capable bomb-thrower who is completely unfit to serve in government.

It’s one thing to fight the regime from the hills, attack and run away. But once the regime is gone and you have to actually govern, the rebel turns out to be a poor administrator.

The devil is always in the details.

Cantor and other House Republicans continue to call on the Senate to simply pass that bill and send it to Obama to sign into law so needed relief funds will be readily available. The reality, however, is that the bill contains scores of other provisions that Senate Democrats and Obama are unlikely to just swallow.

Ain't it?

What is so difficult to understand about that?

What's wrong is the FACT that emergency funding for natural disasters in the various states has ALWAYS provided by the Federal gov't......before, during and after wars, Depressions, recessions. For Cantor and his compadres to suddenly pretend otherwise is a pathetic attempt to further their anti-Obama agenda.

I have helped with disaster response while woking for the military and I can tell you it is a huge effort and costs a lot of money. Supplies don't just appear out of thin air, they have to be purchased.

the military is under a separate budget, as is FEMA, as the National Guard for each State. No one is contesting that everything costs money.....it's the sheer hypocrisy of jokers like Cantor to suddenly get all concerned about budget requirements when they gladly funded two wars off the books and put for a prescription drug plan without a way to pay for it. And when Cantor's state needed FEMA money, he sure as hell wasn't worried about funding or budget.

So whats wrong from diverting money from welfare abusers who don't need it to people who do need it?

And of course, YOU can provide FACTS that the number of "welfare abusers" is tantamount to a sizeable funding of FEMA? I want FACTS, some some silly assed supposition and conjecture. If you can't meet the burden of proof regarding your assertion, then don't waste time and space posting such BS as you just did.

So, you're saying that Cantor is flat out full of it?

President Obama hails return to PAYGO - Josh Gerstein - POLITICO.com :eusa_whistle:

Ahhh, but the devil is in the details:

“It was the abandonment of this rule that allowed the previous administration and previous congresses to pass massive tax cuts for the wealthy and create an expensive new drug program without paying for any of it,” Obama said. “In a perfect world, Congress would not have needed a law to act responsibly, to remember that every dollar spent would come from taxpayers today — or our children tomorrow. But this isn’t a perfect world. This is Washington.”

Obama did not mention in his address that the PAYGO legislation he signed into law Friday was attached to another politically unpopular but arguably essential provision: language lifting the federal debt limit by $1.9 trillion to $14.3 trillion. That reflects continued outlays for a structural deficit in federal spending, as well as the $787 billion stimulus bill passed last year.

While the PAYGO legislation requires offsets for new spending or tax cuts, spending in the stimulus measure was not subjected to that requirement. Obama and other administration officials said offsetting that spending with other spending cuts or tax hikes would be unwise because it would undercut the ability of the stimulus money to jump-start the economy.

What are the provisions and, if you don't like them, what about them is distasteful?

The FACTS of the matter, though, remain. The Republicans, and Cantor, in the House have passed the relief you request while the Democrats in the Senate, AGAIN, do nothing.

It is the Dems who are not responsive, not sympathetic, not empathetic and not energetic. They complain, they blame, they procrastinate and lie. They NEVER help, never think, never plan and never remedy.

It would be refreshing if the Dems would just one time cite the problem, propose the remedy, explain how it would be paid for and then conduct the work of completing the stated plan and producing an actual remedy with an actual result that solved the stated problem.

Their MO is to state the problems, the same ones that they have been stating for decades, proclaim them to be unsolvable and then seek funding to comfort those who are the victims of their ineptitude.

They never solve anything. Never will. It's not in them. Nancy Pelosi as much as says this when she responds to the Prez regarding the opposition to the Reps proposals.
