I'm willing to accept this argument but I want some clarification on what kind of socialist Jesus was. Was he an international lenninist socialist or was he an national socialist like Hitler or Musilini? Did he believe in absolute loyalty to the state and while God was a distant second? Did he believe that religion should be removed from society and everyone become athiest?

Can I get some clarification on what kind of socialist was Jesus because some of the ones I have seen so far didn't seem like nice people and, to be frank, seemed very unchristian.

He would have been just like every other socialist.

Absolutely convinced that his way was the only way. That he was right and everyone else was wrong. that he had every right to tell others how to live.

Isn't it interesting that socialism is so easily compared to religious thinking?

I think he had the same political leanings as the Egyptian Sun God Ra. It is the same story after all.:eusa_shhh:

interesting you should make that observation.

perhaps some might say socialism the ultimate conclusion to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I know I would never take what another earned and give it to someone else.

Isn't that one of the 10 commandments?

The Jesus written about in the bible was liberal not socialist. Historically and practically liberalism is broad and more undefined than socialism. The modern conservatives redefinition of the Jesus of the 'Sermon on the Mount' is simply a partisan tactic, it has no religious foundation. If anything it is an attitude that is materialistic and not religious or faith bound.

"I see some fundamental contradiction here. Everybody criticizes Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris. But at least they're talking about how ludicrous some of these belief systems are. I know that David Sloan Wilson doesn't take issue with the way I've framed these questions, but to see religion as having a positive influence does not get at the fundamental question of what it means to have faith. What is so good about having faith when you don't have evidence? What is the real advantage to that? Why is this something that we want to encourage? Why not say, as I do with my daughter, "Let's see some proof." She asked her friend, who believes in Jesus, if she could wait up one night and see Him for herself, and it didn't happen. Why is that OK? Why is it OK for scientists to say that skepticism is the default position, except when it comes to mainstream religion?" Natalie Angier Edge: GOD VS. SCIENCE: A DEBATE BETWEEN NATALIE ANGIER AND DAVID SLOAN WILSON

...a lot of stoooooooooopid republicrats call themselves 'christian'..

...but it appears that, according to my bible, it was 'jesus the peacemaker,' 'jesus the pacifist,' jesus the wise and compassionate..

...not as you goddamned 'christian' republicrat fools would have it: ..'jesus the militarist,' 'jesus the fighter pilot..the warmonger...the cia spy,' 'jesus the money-grubbing, goddamned fool,' etc..

...you decent christians have a nice day..you stinking, republicrat, warmongering ignoramusses eat shit!.. ;)

The premise is a blasphemous joke in the poorest of taste, as Christ never promoted helping your neighbor and/or supporting charity by compulsion.

Isn't a church, by its very nature a socialist entity?

Society was so different, then, compared to now, that attempting to foist a political label on Jesus simply makes ZERO sense.

Jesus lived under a theocratic monarchy, that was controlled by a foreign-based and growing tyranny which was evolving (or perhaps DEvolving is more accurate) from what had previously been a Republic (but not a democractic republic, rather a republic based on peers of the realm).

Now how the hell can you evaluate Jesus' political POV in light of the fact that you are attempting to use words whose meanings are entirely of THIS AGE?

Answer?

You cannot.

That Jesus has a god complex.

Thinks he walks on water or something.

No, you're getting him confused with Obama. Jesus CAN walk on water.... it is Obama who THINKS he can.

 That's a good one, and apparently he convinced a lot of folks that he COULD walk on water, and now he is president. Also, I like your previous answer about "Free Will"
My theory. God gave us 'free will'. That is not a socialist concept. Ergo, God is not a socialist

Yes, cannot compare the two

one says, think about it and make your own decision.

The socialist concept says, you will do what we say is good for you and BTW, it's the law now so either comply or get fined and/or go to prison.
