According the the experts it is akin to mental illness.

nuh uh!

It is part of our reproductive process, hormones/chemicals released make you "feel" in love....at least for the female gender....it is part of the "plan" of our being...imo

Better chance of survival of the species being "in love" and paired or grouped with many wives and concubines.

At 5:08 Curley Sue's answer starts. I like hers best

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
-John 3:16

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
-John 15:13

That is love. :)

They say money can't buy you love, but sometimes it is for sale.

I said akin to insanity as in the brain activity and electrochemical processes released etc.
And don't forget the stupid things we do in pursuit of love.
In some cases even cutting off an ear or comitting suicide as a result.

It depends on how you define love. Buddhists say love is the sincere wish for someone else to be happy. That's a broader definition than what most of us would call love--which Buddhists would label 'exaggerated or neurotic attachment'.

I like that answer too.
