> Jews for Jesus

"The Israeli Supreme Court also made clear its feelings on Jews for Jesus as it applies to eligibility for aliyah. While all Jews are eligible to receive Israeli citizenship, the Supreme Court determined that Jews for Jesus are not actually Jews, as belief in Jesus as the Messiah is not a Jewish value. Rather, they said, Jews for Jesus "marks the clear separation between Judaism and Christianity" (1993)."

Israel just rejected Guatamalain Jews for aliyah.

Jesus himself was a Jew. How can they determine that they are not Jews for believing in Jesus?

Judaism is a religion that predates Christianity and is totally separate from this later faith. It is of no importance that a Jewish guy shows up and preaches something that causes his followers to proclaim him to be the Messiah of the Jews. The second wave came along in the form of the followers of Mohammad, who proclaim him to be the true Messenger of God, built on the foundations of the early Jews of the Old Testament and then Jesus, who is a prophet in the Islamic faith.

There is no reason to expect that Jews would adopt Christianity or for Jews and Christians to adopt Islam.

The Jews of Israel have a right to stick with the Originals, especially given the centuries of often-fatal persecution that they have endured from Christians and Muslims.

In Christianity alone, there has been upstart upon upstart who claims that he represents the Supreme Being. This has gone on for centuries up until the present day, with the popes, the Calvins, the Grahams, all representing to the world that they speak for the Creator. It''s all a bunch of malarky.

So a person who has direct lineage from Judah of Israel is not a Jew if he believes in the teachings of Christ?

Messianic Jews would have to change the meaning of many verses in Hosea, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Zecharia to accept Jesus as messiah.

They just have to have belief. Like I said in the other thread one's belief supersedes being born of a Jew mother, the definition of being considering Jewish.

The vast majority of "Jews" for Jesus are neither born nor converted Jews. In fact, the entire organization, founded by a Baptist Minister, is funded by a consortium of Protestant Churches.

They are not, in any sense of the word, Jews.

The patriarch all seem to have had foreign wives. The notion of a Jewish mother making a person a Jew comes after the Babylonian exile. See Ezra in the OT.

The great majority of Jews laugh at Messianic Jews, the ones who worship Jesus. We consider them silly clowns. We pretend they don't exist.

See to me that they don't know much about Judaism or Christianity.

You’re a Christian if you believe in the teaching of Christ…
I thought you have to be baptized.
Jesus was baptized, but was still Jewish when he died.

Those that follow Jesus teaching are not Jewish nor should be consider Jewish and Jews for Jesus are just another sect of Christians using another name…
