First the tea party happened and then Trump. They stopped trying to govern and instead focused their efforts on PR, fund raising and gaining personal power. They are in a sad state. It’s too bad

Populism is rising among the GOP, and trying to help blue collar workers find new jobs is a lot of the focus of that. Trump tried to help out with regard to certain trade policies.

Ultimately, the biggest help would be creating more job programs to educate these workers with new skills. This is something that you could likely get bipartisan support for.
