I called Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield last month, to complain about our 30+ increase in premiums--even though we're HEALTHY & had filed no claims during the year, & listened to a 2 minute RECORDED apology--that the reason our health rates skyrocked--was because of the PHARMACUTICAL industry has been PUSHING all these new drugs upon us for the last several years.

All's you need to do is watch T.V for one hour--& you have at least 3 sexual advertisements about some man who just can't do it without a pill. Then you'll have another adverstisment about some woman who urinates too much--so they have a pill for that--& then another advertisment about depression--or holy cow--it's gotten endless.

WELL GUESS WHAT---You are paying for an OLD MAN--to have SEX now-a-days through higher premiums--:lol: You're paying for people who believe they have "restless leg" syndrome through higher premimums. You're paying for people that have "depression" to get a pill to allieviate what-ever sypmtoms they may thing they have.

THIS IS WHY MEDICAL INSURANCE RATES ARE NO LONGER AFFORDABLE--:cuckoo::cuckoo:

When you have a baby boomer population--with millions of males--that need a pill to have sex--what in the "freak" did you think was going to happen--:lol:

that IS the Insurance business model.....the more people insured, such as yourself, that is healthy....the better financial spot they are in.... the healthy always pay for the sick's illnesses, no matter what they are....they are the middle man.

I agree that PHARMA spends too much money advertising their drugs to the public, verses selling the Doctor on the drug because of its true beneficial qualities.

Hey--just watch 1 nights worth of mainstream T.V. & FOLLOW the money.

Men at 70 may want sex--but hey God & nature say NO--but science & our pharmacutical industry out of your wallet says YES.

I personally agree with one comedian. At 79 years old--a man doesn't need a doctors prescription--he needs 3 women who say they want to F him--:lol::lol:

if the dude is over 65, medicare would be paying for the Viagra if it is still an approved drug.

so, your insurance is not going up because of the senior's viagra, but your taxes would be paying for it, again....if approved.....

I think Anthem is trying to raise their rates 20% here in maine, but the state stopped them and held them to a 10% increase and Anthmen is now suing the State for a bigger increase..... :(

RLS feels like 'bees biting under my skin'...

'My restless legs were like bees biting under my skin'
25 December 2017 - For years, Mary Rose struggled to get off to sleep or to stay asleep, because she felt like she was being attacked by insects. "Imagine having a swarm of bees buzzing inside the skin of your legs, biting you," she says, describing the sensation that overwhelmed her. "It's really very, very painful."
Now in her 80s, the art historian has a condition called restless legs syndrome (RLS), which tortures her at night. "It makes you want to scratch your legs and get up and walk about - it was just impossible to lie down and sleep because one's legs were twitching in this uncontrollable way," she explained. The symptoms were so severe, she didn't want to go to bed at night.

'No sleep at all'

Mary Rose can't remember when the problem began, but the condition went undiagnosed for years. "People would say 'oh you've got cramp; you must take quinine or sleep with corks in your bed'. And I did all these things." Of course, they had no effect. She also tried rubbing ointment into her legs to ease the stinging sensation, but that never lasted long enough to let her sleep through the night. Visits to her GP also failed to bring relief.

Restless legs at night can be very disruptive and unpleasant

Eventually, she was referred to the sleep clinic at Guy's and St Thomas's hospitals in London, where she's now being treated by neurologist Dr Guy Leschziner. "Restless legs syndrome is a common neurological disorder that causes an irresistible urge to move, particularly at night, and is often linked with unpleasant sensations in the legs," Dr Leschziner explains. "It affects up to one in 20 adults," he continues, "and can cause severe sleep deprivation."

At its worst, Mary Rose was surviving on only a few hours' sleep at night, sometimes even less. "I have had complete nights without any sleep at all," she says. "If I was very tired, I'd sleep, then wake for an hour or two and sometimes get up." RLS is often hereditary but can be caused by other conditions including iron deficiency and pregnancy - and it's usually easy to treat.

My first wife had restless leg syndrome, I whacked it off, problem solved and then we divorced shortly after.

Viagra is only paid by certain insurance companies and some limit to 4 pills per month. Makes me think of "if you have an erection for 4 hours" see a doctor. Well, I think they should bring a busload of hookers in, who wants to go to a doctor and have them slice the underside of your ding dong?

I get the generic Viagra, it's really cheap. It's called Mydixadryll. Ask for it at the pharmacy.

No, that's not the "insurance business model". That's how group health insurance works. With real insurance, you pay based on how much risk there is that you'll get sick. People with a poor health history, or unhealthy lifestyles, pay more. Less risky customers pay less.

well, 80% of all people with insurance get it through work which ARE Group plans, and they are CHEAPER than individual plans....

Matt and I were in our mid to late 40's, when we first moved to Maine, neither of us were ever sick, neither took any prescriptions, neither of us smoked cigarettes, for an Individual market plan with Anthem blue cross blue shield, in 2006 when we first moved here was $2000 A MONTH....

it had NOTHING to do with our health....WE WERE HEALTHY and not taking any risks....

so, no the individual market insurance just dicked you....based on nothing.

As long as people continue to use their health insurance for every single doctor visit it is going to continue to be expensive

Normal health insurance has been effectively destroyed by federal and state promotion of employer group health insurance.

"believe they have Restless Leg"? WTF? I can guarantee I have RLS. Try getting 2 or 3 hours sleep a night for a week and see how productive and alert you are.

Didn't you know? Everyone's an Internet doctor these days, and fully qualified to determine what is and isn't a real medical problem, based on whether or not they've ever heard of it before.

Have you tried Nyquil? I know a couple of people with RLS they take Nyquil before they go to bed. No problem.

I have. It helped me sleep but felt like hell all day the next day. I'm a lightweight where meds are concerned. But I appreciate the suggestion.

Doesn't necessarily help, any more than Nyquil would necessarily help with any other pain or discomfort keeping one awake.
