It's all in the real demographics and the shift that has been happening at a faster pace over the past few years

In a paper published last month, Princeton economists Anne Case and Angus Deaton showed that over the last 15 years, white middle-aged Americans have been dying at unusually high rates. Most of those deaths were concentrated among people with only a high-school diploma, or less.

Polls say that the same kind of people — older, less-educated whites — are largely responsible for Donald Trump's lead in the race for the Republican nomination for president.

This could be a coincidence. But it is nonetheless striking that Trump’s promise to "Make America Great Again" has been most enthusiastically embraced by those who have seen their own life's prospects diminish the most — not in terms of material wealth, but in terms of literal chance of survival.

It's because they think things like seat-belts and dietary recommendations are part of a commie-nist conspiracy.

I see that the article mentions drug abuse. If you have middle aged white parents, these are some signs that they made be getting messed up:

Physical and health signs of drug abuse
  • Eyes that are bloodshot or pupils that are smaller or larger than normal.
  • Frequent nosebleeds could be related to snorted drugs (meth or cocaine).
  • Changes in appetite or sleep patterns. Sudden weight loss or weight gain.
  • Seizures without a history of epilepsy.
  • Deterioration in personal grooming or physical appearance.
  • Impaired coordination, injuries/accidents/bruises that they won’t or can’t tell you about- they don’t know how they got hurt.
  • Unusual smells on breath, body, or clothing.
  • Shakes, tremors, incoherent or slurred speech, impaired or unstable coordination.

Psychological warning signs of alcohol or drug abuse
  • Unexplained, confusing change in personality and/or attitude.
  • Sudden mood changes, irritability, angry outbursts or laughing at nothing.
  • Periods of unusual hyperactivity or agitation.
  • Lack of motivation; inability to focus, appears lethargic or “spaced out.”
  • Appears fearful, withdrawn, anxious, or paranoid, with no apparent reason.
  • Yelling at television whenever a back politician is on-screen

I must admit to a certain fascination in watching the establishment GOP deal with the Gerrymandered results of amplifying the most extreme republican voices and effectively pushing all dissenting votes in to the blue.

Oh, goodie... another not-so-subtly spiteful Hate Whitey thread... OK... so be it.

Bet'cha cream yo' jeans at dee idea uv all dem White Folk dyin'...dont'cha?...

The question that needs to be asked is how the republican political party got hijacked by America's aging WASPs.

So how did the Democrat Party get hijacked by communists, La Rasa, and Iran?

Answer: The President was raised by communists, sold out our security to special interests, and because Obama and Hillary have sold us out to Islamic terrorists, beginning with The Muslim Brotherhood.

Of course, the hijacking done to the democrats has been diluted by all the moderate republicans (a.k.a. 'RINOS') switching sides.

It's all good.

Johnny-one-note thread once again.

really? so the demographic shift isn't real?

I Wonder how the GOP is going to address that in national elections and the big Electoral college states who have big progressive and minority populations , seems instead of putting forth a program' they continue what they have done in the last two presidential elections

Yeah, holding on to trickle-down may have been a big mistake for the GOP, but it was a very profitable use of the party by corporate America and the Military/Medical Industrial Complexes while it lasted.

Honestly, I would never have guessed that they would all be pushing redistributive tax plans :disbelief:

The democrat party consists of radical leftists the American people will no longer follow in the future. It's not the party of your grand-dad anymore. Watch the results of the next election. Moderate and conservative democrats will be switching to the GOP or the Conservative party that replaces it in the future.

That is because some of us think that the government has no business having goals for how we should live our lives. I know a lot of people on the left claim to be free thinkers and independent but it is hard to claim that if you have to run to the government for advice on how to live your life at almost every turn in your life.

It is interesting to notice that the unemployment numbers for most non-white workers is almost always higher than whites. It is also interesting to notice that since these groups are disproportionally affected by recessions that they may figure out that trickle down economics is superior for them in the end. It is just a matter of time before everyone figures out that the left lies to them about this issue.

Underestimating and dismissing the Trump followers as inconsequential sounds like whistling past the graveyard more than anticipating victory for Democrats.. There are no demographic inevitabilities here for you to count on. We are in a new political age, all predictions are just idle speculation now.
