Used to be that when we on the Right said Liberalism is a mental disease, it was assumed to be an insult.

But the proof just keeps on rolling in.

1. "School District in San Diego Changes Grading System to ‘Combat Racism’
Posted by Mike LaChance Monday, October 19, 2020 at 8:00am
“under the old grading system, teachers fail minority students more than White students”
“This is part of our honest reckoning as a school district,” says SDUSD Vice President Richard Barrera. “If we’re actually going to be an anti-racist school district, we have to confront practices like this that have gone on for years and years.”
According to data presented by the district, under the old grading system, teachers fail minority students more than White students – a lot more.

During the first semester of last year, 30% of all D or F grades were given to English learners. One in four, 25%, of failing marks went to students with disabilities.
By ethnicity, 23% went to Native Americans. Another 23% of failing grades went to Hispanics. And 20% of D or F grades went to Black students.
By comparison, just 7% of failing marks went to White students.
In an effort to change that racial imbalance, the school board voted unanimously this week to make several big changes to its grading system.
Academic grades will now focus on mastery of the material, not a yearly average, which board members say penalizes students who get a slow start, or who struggle at points throughout the year."

2. Obviously, white folks are responsible when minority students fall short when compared to white and Asian students in these areas:

The number of days absent from school

The number of hours spent watching TV

The number of pages read for homework

Quantity and quality of reading material in the home

The presence of two parents in the home.

3. There can be no fairer grading system than this:

A vote for Biden should do the trick.

1. Wow! What a hot potato!

2. There are some (many?) people who really, really, really believe that racism is the main reason why Euro Americans & Asian Americans earn better marks in school than some other folks.

a. That is the party line that everyone must say that s/he believes.

3. Of course, some people respectfully and humbly and meekly disagree, but it is necessary to keep their mouths shut.

What could be more poignant than this...

"First is a cultural trait that has become a cliché in the model-minority discussion: a zealous focus on education. .... education for the next generation is close to a religion..... One recent college graduate, now a public school math teacher, told me that his mother would wake him at 5 AM to go over math problems—when he was in the first and second grade. ..
.... one kindergartner’s mother said, in faltering English: “My son must go Harvard.”

a. No matter how poor they are, parents find a way to get their fourth- or fifth-graders into test-prep classes. WNYC found one Sunset Park family who put aside $5,000 for classes for their three sons out of a yearly household income of just $26,000.
Brooklyn's Chinese Pioneers by Kay S. Hymowitz, City Journal Spring 2014

b. ....Chinese kids had the longest commutes to high school. Most parents would be uneasy about an hour-and-a-half trip every day from the middle of Brooklyn, say, to Bronx Science. Kasinitz found that Latino parents, in particular, like to keep their high schoolers close to home.
Chinese parents weren’t deterred by distance—or by much else.

You seem to be a racist, suggesting that 'stealing' is bad.....

"BLM organizer who called looting ‘reparations’ dismisses peaceful protesting"

You'd best get wit' da woke program.

Whoa!

Another hot potato.

I have read that there is a high school in the Big Apple that is enrolls the gifted.

In past years, I believe most of the students were Jewish.

Today most are Asian.

The mayor of New York feels that more students of other ethnicities should be able to enter that school.

Currently, entrance is solely based on entrance tests.

His Honor wants to base entrance on other considerations besides only written tests.

With the likely election of Mr. Biden, I think there will be a nation-wide push to base entrance into various schools on a variety of other factors.

Add that to the universities that are limiting Asian enrollment, we can see that an unpleasant situation is brewing.

Go a little further on the color scale and you have Donald Trump's immigration policy!

So that means we're opening the borders to any people from SE Asia who wish to come here?

After all we want to be fair and I'd love to see a Chinese and Hindu restaurant in every town across the United States also.

And we both know what 'other factors' means.
