What band/song ripped your head off when you first listened?

I first heard "Dark Side of the Moon" in college. We were waylayed by opiated hash when somebody put the (vinyl) album on the turntable.
That same night we listened to "Apostrophe" by Zappa.

I got on my feet. I did the Funky Alphonso.

I listened to this the first time last year. It hit my ears and my heart and hit them hard

I am not sure why, his voice is very soothing.

whoa geeze. How bad was the one I put up? lol, I will now count on you to be my back up because I don't have a clue when I hit you tube

hehehehehe I can't load any of them. I tried on zack wilde and it took 3 freaking days for one video to load. I'm out there plowing a field and wrestling wild turkeys to the ground before I got that video to play.

Oh, it wasn't! It was just the list of videos. If you pick one, then when you post it, the video itself will show up in the post.

Hey There, Georgie Girl- it came out the year my dad died. I was 12.
Still fucks me up when I hear it.

I had a great freind and we are talking few and far between on frieinds for me, because I hate people, but I never forgot her saying that she hated and detested all celebrations because everyone she had ever loved died on an occaision sp?

She confided in me that everyone died on Easter/Christmas/freaking even 4th of July

She really thought that all those days were wiped out and days of mourning.

I've always been of the different spirit. I made days different. If I say today is Christmas, well then it is.

I made July the 4th in Florida when we went to see my husbands very sick father. It's a state of mind.

And keep that state of mind. hehehehe on the other hand, I'm insane. I like my druthers though.

The two bands that totally blew me away are Kansas and The Outlaws. I have seen Kansas 44 times.

For me, and I was in the middle of managing punk and progressive rock, I saw him in a video Little Red Corvette.

I am not kidding you, I dropped to my knees. Holy toledo. What a package. And I don't know how to explain it but it was like he smacked the song around while he still delivered it to you.

Little Red Corvette. wow.

I still love him to this day.

I hope I'm doing this right.

Same. But as much as he rocked at Little Red Corvette, 1999, etc, the songs I loved best were Purple Rain and When Doves Cry.

"Even doves have pride.

How could you just leave me standing,
alone in a world that's so cold."

Followed by the bit where he saw that they were both bringing the worst of his parents to the table when they fought.
