I reside in eastern Washington state. I am a ways out from any cities. There are two small towns within several miles of me, the biggest one actually is big enough to have a four way stop sign intersection(no traffic lights). It's so quiet out here one can likely near hear an ant fart. I work the land & harvest crops(alfalfa, barley & oats) on my acreage to help my wallet from dehydrating. The area has both desert lakes & a little further away high country lakes. It's peaceful & away from the insanity of the big cities my city cousins face daily. Folks out here are for the most part farmers & ranchers. Crime is nonexistent this far out. Natural disasters are limited to wild fires in the highlands which are a ways from the flatlands I reside in. Folks in the two towns closest to my acreage are friendly. Folks out here don't seem to care about color of skin or different facial features/ethnicity. It's kind of a Mayberry atmoshphere minus Deputy Barney Fife & Sheriff Andy Taylor. The computer keeps me in touch with my fellow Americans. It's the peace & quiet, zero crime plus excellent neighbors & no natural disasters that keep me this far out. What do you like most about the geographical area that you dwell in?

I'm in an inner suburb of a big East Coast city. I can walk to the center if I wanted to, so I'm close enough to take advantage of what it offers. My neighbors are great folk and, in this area, people move in, raise their kids, and stay. I've been in the same house now for 30 years. Before that I lived 2 miles away for 10 years. The public schools are great here, my kids got a much better education that I did. My daughter is raising her family a few miles away since the city and inner suburbs have plenty of good jobs to offer. This place works for me.

I haven't lived many places but I've traveled a bit and my gut tells me every place offers its pluses and minuses. Life is balancing them.

Burley Idaho
45 minutes from high mountain bait fishing
1 hour from fly fishing Sun Valley, Big Wood, Little Wood rivers
Varmint hunting Rockchucks and Whistle pigs within minutes
Golf Course dues are 600 a year. Unlimited Play
Burley is big enough to have everything But small enough to be a community
My house is surrounded byi pivots of Potatoes, Sugarbeets, and dry beans
We live on the Snake river so boating is available

I think there are a lot of great places to live but more and more of them are turning out to be outside of the city. I guess the luckiest people will say they prefer where they actually live. I guess I'm one of those types. Eastern Pa. has good football, great wrestling, great golf, good hunting, fishing, hiking and camping, good gardening and a bunch of wineries and casinos if you like that. I'm staying

Non-progressive rural mountain areas. I'm a rancher in OK but lived in AK for many years. Anyplace with awesome mountains, nice weather, skiing, fly fishing, hunting & land for my cattle.
A complete absence of Dems & their well-worn copy of "Marxist Utopia for Morons: 101" they cling to even as they flee the sh!thole city these same policies created would make the place heaven to me.
Not saying I can't be around a lefty, they just have to learn my rights don't end where there feelings on a subject begin

Seattle suburbs - Full of tech and chess geeks like me. The Pacific Northwest is the best place to live.

Undecided on where the best place in the US to live, I would still like to take the opportunity to suggest where no one should ever consider.

Louisiana ... It's terrible here.
The food sucks, the people are unfriendly, it's really boring year round.
There's nothing to do, and nothing to see here.

If you get a flat tire while passing through, ride on the rim and don't stop.
Be sure to fill up with gas before you hit the state line.

Avoid at all costs ... It's better just to stay where you are.

Florida--(mid florida along the coasts) for weather almost year around swimming which why many have their own pools).
SC for mild weather and the cost of living. Along with lack of change-----as you get older, you get set in your ways, and SC doesn't change much over decades.

Idaho! You are living in Gods country! Checked out the area on Google maps like you are surrounded by cultivated fields, best living in America for sure. Next door to you I have a cousin that has/had(?) a volkswagen repair shop in Twin Falls since the early 70's. When we cleared out of Alaska we headed to Harpster Idaho(north of your area) close to Grangeville & purchased a 1/4 section of land at the very end of Sears creek Rd. just east of the little town(?) of Harpster(postage stamp size). I mean the road today ends just a couple yards west of the barn, the road used to extend right up to our garage door. Like it's pretty sparse for population up there so things like the road ending at the door of the garage sounds bizarre but hey it's backwoods Idaho! I'm really happy for you for being able to live in such beautiful area & in the BEST & most free state in the nation!
