Why is ANY word a "racial slur" unless the race is obviously inferior in terms of looks, intellect, and or other well established behavior?

The N word has become the ultimate "bad" word. If he had called the bus driver a mother f'er, he would still have a job.

If every person were fired from his/her job for having said that word occasionally in a fit of anger, then there would be a lot of unemployed people today.
