Weird Ending Of the 2019 NHRA Funny Car Race at Pomona

Robert Hight won the FC semi-final round and said after "I won't oil down the track" which I thought was a real weird thing to say. The finals would be against Beckman. Hight does an 1/8 mile smoking burnout and the car stops half-track. He gets out of the car, hops over the wall, and starts celebrating the championship. The camera turns to everyone standing behind the starting line. John Force and team all had the look of WTF?
Hight said his car shut off. I say bullshit.
Anyway, Beckman wins the race (his 1st at Pomona) and Hight won the 2019 Funny Car championship.
