We could lose 20% of small businesses.

Let's hope this guy is wrong.

That's been a worry of mine since we started seeing stay-at-home orders and mandatory business closures. It seems like the sort of thing that could spiral. On the other hand, as I'm neither an economist nor a virologist, I can't say with any certainty what the right balance is between the health of the country and the economy.

Oh, and Karen Mills is a woman. ;)

The data is clear on the body count trajectory, the only reliable data we have given testing capacity shortfall.

I think the data is too limited to make many confident decisions. :dunno:
The death rate? No, that's pretty clear. And America's trajectory is still not leveling off.

The death rate is based on limited info, and varies from country to country and even state to state. Are the early average death rates of new viruses normally accurate?
I'm taking all the projections with a grain of salt. I just watch the new cases and the recoveries and the deaths.

Hopefully the death rate and projections turn out to be overly pessimistic.

Lets hope....lets hope this stimulus helps and the next one if needed....small businesses have more capital on hand than they have had in 10 years....we will be fine...

So you are good with socialism now, then?

Frankly, if you guys really believed in "Capitalism", you'd be all for these small businesses going under, as kind of a Darwinian event. That's what the Invisible Hand of the Free Market does. It eliminates the weak and unworthy.

Why do you hate free markets?

America has to reopen and go back to work

But the major population centers are run by democrats who wont go back to work till the unemployment checks run out
I guess that its good that the unemployment checks can only go for so long then.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. I will miss my favorite restaurant here in my area should it take a permanent nosedive. Right now it is one of the many here that are closed.

The pain in some sectors of the economy will affect everyone in one way or another

the longer America remains on lockdown the longer it will take to recover

Pres.Trump needs to sign a executive order to stop banks from charging interest to the federal reserve. in order to stop this epidemic from spreading.
But he can't actually do that until he has control over both House and the Senate.
These Globalists are making a killing from the interest that we borrowed from them. Just imagine how much they will make if the Green New Deal goes through. The economy better not collapse if the GND is in effect. Or else they will be collecting up all of our assets.

It is a state of emergency. So he should make sure that Banks cannot charge interest rates on money during an emergency.

Libs hates small businesses, for a couple of reasons. The biggest is how hard they are to organize into unions. Each business has to be organized separately, and the employees and owners are likely to have bonded and will want to stand against Big Labor. The Labor Goons can still prevail due to their muscle, but the result is that the outfit goes out of business and the dues money stops.

Big Labor would rather do business with large, resilient outfits with huge payrolls to loot.

Yep. We all remember Obama lecturing us about small businesses and successful people:
"YOU DIDN"T BUILD THAT!!!"

Slightly off-topic, but I see they're trying to increase licensing fees here by over 50% in order to do work in the city. Also with permit fees and inspection fees.

I hear Pelosi already has corona 4.0 legislation written and ready to roll out. Good ol Baghdad Bob Mnuchin will print all of the money we need.
