"Biden’s big agenda is imperiled as his priorities stall in Congress and a debt fight looms

So far, senior White House officials and Democratic leaders have let the bipartisan discussions proceed without much interference from them, empowering rank-and-file lawmakers to hammer out significant compromises on guns, policing and immigration that could help define Biden’s legacy. But it’s unclear how much more of a legislative window they have, because they soon face a fiscal crunch, including an expiration of the debt limit this summer, which will probably consume Washington with partisan battles over federal spending.

Impatience is starting to mount, particularly among Democrats in the House, who are staring down challenging political and structural head winds ahead of next year’s midterm elections and are eager to sell their accomplishments to voters. These Democrats are also skeptical that there is any real appetite from Republicans to carry out bipartisan accomplishments after most GOP lawmakers rejected a commission — negotiated by one of their own — to investigate the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
"

Sorry Joe, I hope you enjoyed it but it looks like the honeymoon is coming to end, time for the circus to begin.

Now we get to see if Uncle Joe has the stones to stand up to the progressive dingbats in his own party and effectively "reach across the aisle" but given the Republican reticence to do anything but oppose every word that comes out his mouth I have serious doubts as the whether he's going to meet even half of the goals he's claimed he wants to achieve. You reap what you sow partisans, welcome back to GRID LOCK, intra-party bickering and probably a drubbing in his first mid-terms.

Oh well, at least grid lock suppresses the urges of our boys & girls in Washington to make things worse.

He's already tried to reach out to republicans repeatedly, the lastest attempt being a lower price on the infrastructure bill. The republicans are rebuffing the effort, refusing to compromise even as Joe offers to.

Why should Republicans give Biden an inch? I don't recall any Democrats compromising with Trump on the wall, and other keys agenda items. Pretending this is a Republican problem is disingenuous. Biden is reaping what AOC, Pelosi, and friends sowed that four years.

Ummm .. no actually they won't.

Even on legislative that is eligible under reconciliation, the Democrats can't afford a single defection in the Senate and Manchin has already clear he's not going to go for the more progressive portions of Biden's agenda, so it's either pull those pieces that Manchin finds objectionable from the legislation (angering the far-left progressive wing) or get nothing at all.

.. and on everything else the Republicans will just filibuster it, so yes if Uncle Joe wants to move forward with the lion's share of his agenda, he's going to need to convince at least some Senate Republicans to come aboard.

If Xiden wants to compromise with the GOP he better find better policies than these, because these are going nowhere:
Border and immigration policies
Energy policies
Military posture
The Green New Deal
More "Wokeness"
Law and Order vs Anarchy
Reprogram the US education system: Critical Race Theory vs Traditional/Family Values
God vs atheism
China and trade policies
Outsourcing jobs by taxing corporations so much they relocate
HR-1 grab for one-party rule
Make DC & PR new states taking over the US senate forever
Replacing the Electoral College with the popular vote
Totally turning the US into a socialist/failed state.
Packing the US Supreme Court with Leftists

No, he won't.

Hiding behind the National Guard and barbed wire fences, the Democrats can't expect to get much accomplished.

LOL.....Now I'm for anything that causes dems heartburn but ever notice that the gop "debt hawks" start flying around when the gop is out of power? Meh, wash, rinse, repeat.

The only honest broker in that regard is Rand Paul.
