Deonte Lee Murray, 36, has been accused of shooting two officers in their patrol car on the evening of Saturday, September 12, 2020.

The ambush, which left the officers in critical condition, happened in Compton area of Los Angeles, California.

"LASD and District Attorney Jackie Lacey announce the arrest of Deonte Lee Murray in relation to ambush shooting of two deputies in Compton," FoxLA Bill Melugin tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

"Murray is charged with attempted murder of both deputies."
He added: "Murray was arrested two weeks ago in connection with a carjacking and shooting of a man in Compton.

"He also faces charges as a result of that incident."

He also faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Murray allegedly shot two deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has not yet commented on a possible motive for the crime.

According to police, Murray "hates police and wants them dead," FoxLa reported.

Murray was reportedly detained by a SWAT team in Los Angeles nearly two weeks ago.

He was arrested over an alleged carjacking that sparked a high speed police chase before he hid in a trash bin at the back of an apartment building in Lynwood, cops say.

However, at the time, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Boese told reporters the suspect was not linked to the police shootings.

The attack on the two deputies came amid protests in Los Angeles by the Black Lives Matter movement and calls to defund the police in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

Claudia Apolinar, 31, and a 24-year-old male colleague were both injured when a gunman opened fire through the window of their patrol car in Compton at around 7pm.

After a certain shock, the authorities came to their senses and began to persecute those who unleashed the "black terror" against the police and whites. The country needs to establish law and order. Will hope that the administration of President Trump will be able to prevent a civil war ...
The question remains only for how long ...
The main problem in the country looks insoluble...

There will be no Civil War only an uprising...Be sure to brutally suppress it.

Yes, after yesterday's debate, I began to feel more confident about this. But Hillary is threatened with jail and therefore they are ready to go to "extreme" measures, including an attempt to physically eliminate the President ...

Murray, who authorities say is associated with multiple gangs, could face a potential life prison term if convicted of the charges, District Attorney Jackie Lacey. Sheriff's Homicide Bureau Capt. Kent Wegener, who detailed the investigation, did not suggest a specific motive for the attack "other than the fact that he obviously hates policemen and he wants them dead."
