A series of fires blazed in the West Bank on Monday afternoon, in what the defense establishment suspects was an act of retaliation by extreme right-wing activists after several structures were dismantled in unauthorized outposts during the morning.
Palestinians reported that Jewish settlers set fire to dozens of dunams of Palestinian-owned land south of Nablus. In addition, settlers set fire to olive groves and fields belonging to the Burin and Asira villages near the settlement of Yitzhar in Samaria, human rights group Yesh Din said.
Other reports said two Palestinians were wounded after settlers hurled stones at their car near the Hawara checkpoint.
Palestinian firefighters were working to put out the flames, and the police and IDF launched an investigation into the fires.
On Monday morning, Civil Administration officials and border policemen arrived at the Adei Ad outpost and demolished an unauthorized caravan.
Later in the morning, authorities dismantled four structures in the Mitzpe Danni and Nofei Yarden outposts.
The Council of Binyamin Settlers issued a statement accusing the authorities of dismantling the structures because of a dispute with the settlers, who have filed a complaint against a Civil Administration employee.
