Welcome to the ObamaNation. He has militarized YOUR GOVERNMENT to come in and squash you. Remember the rancher, Bundy? Remember the IRS and conservatives? You better be contacting your worthless Congress asses. Video of this at the site:

SNIP:
The IRS admits Navy Veteran Andrew Clyde did nothing wrong, but this is what tyranny looks like in Obama’s redistribution of wealth. When Obama wants your money, he takes it via the arm of the IRS.

It should be noted that if a business makes deposits of $10,000 or more, the IRS can seize money on the assumption that an individual is attempting to launder money, thus using the “suspicion of criminal activity” excuse—even if no criminal activity exists. These deposits mandate that the bank collect a massive amount of personal information before processing a deposit of 10k or more. Many people keep deposits under $10,000 to avoid filling out the intrusive government forms. Thus, the IRS goes after this activity as well—when the money deposits are consistently below $10,000—the IRS claims “structuring” to avoid the $10k or over rule.

Basically depositors are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. The IRS will seize money on either side of the amount limit and use whichever rule on the book applies to their agenda.

The below video says it all and is an absolute OUTRAGE!

IRS = Intentional Robbers Stealing

Taxes are governmental theft or pirvate property, only legal because the government made it legal. If we actually had a democracy and put taxation to a vote, we wouldn't have taxation, ot at least not to the extent we currently do.

I read the article - they are referring to the Civil asset forfeiture laws and if that is the case concerning this man then he can go to court within a year to challenge the seizure of his money - and have it returned to him. The law was created to seize assets of those they thought might have obtained the money through illegal transactions - it didn't require a crime to be committed but merely the suspicion of one. That law is still on the books so far as I know.

"The IRS admits Navy Veteran Andrew Clyde did nothing wrong, but this is what tyranny looks like in Obama’s redistribution of wealth. When Obama wants your money, he takes it via the arm of the IRS."

This is a legitimate issue and it takes away from the argument when lies about Obama are introduced. In point of fact, asset forfeiture laws were enacted long before Obama was born.

And it cost him $149,000 in lawyers fees, and other expenses to get it back. It is outrageous. Is this another angle on operation choke point?

So it's ok if it's been going on for a while?

Are you retarded?

If that be the case - he should demand he be reimbursed for his lawyer fees as well. I thought if you win a case they have to pay your lawyers fee - am I mistaken about that?

I wish this was an Obama thing, but it isn't. The IRS has been doing this for decades, and it is way past time for their abuses to be stopped.

It is up to Congress to stop them.

It isn't alright but civil asset forfeiture laws did not seem to be a big deal to people until they started losing their own property. One case in particular - grandson borrowed his grandfathers car and while out with a friend riding as passenger - he lights a marijuana joint and smokes it and they get pulled over. Grandfather's cadillac was taken under civil asset forfeiture law because his car was the place the crime took place. I do not know if he got his vehicle back or not. That is just one example. As of perhaps 7 years ago there were over 30,000 cases in court concerning this type of seizure. People attempting to get back their property.

Wrong again. As I understand it the Civil Asset forfeiture law began either under Bush or Clinton.

But there are a lot of things going on that only started after Obama. The IRS is now going after families of deceased people for tax debts. They had the ability to do this long before Obama was president, but out of a sense of decency never made it a practice. Now that's changed because they see the greenlight from the White House to engage in the most horrific abuses allowed by law. The signals that are sent by the Obama administration as to what will be tolerated and what won't are very important. It's no coincidence that the IRS targeted conservative groups for special persecution or the NSA started spying on people. They all take their cues from the tyrant in the White House whereas they wouldn't dare attempt such a thing under Bush....or hell, even Clinton before that...I think Clinton would have slapped them like an Arkansas mule.

Exactly. I have a special burning hatred for these laws because they're specifically written to skirt around the 4th and 5th Amendments by making it a civil action rather than part of the criminal code. Yet they're wildly popular with law enforcement agencies who are the chief beneficiary of seized assets. It's often the reason why your local sheriff's office has a mechanized APC and fully equipped SWAT team to bring to bear against grandma and grandpa growing a little whacky weed in their back yard.

I also hate how hidden it is, how it's never a topic of national debate, how it's ignored by the media, never addressed in Congress, and never on any president's agenda to reform or abolish. It's small wonder how so many people don't even know how these laws can work and how quickly innocent people can get ensnared by it.

You might want to look up the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984.

Very well said. I agree. And you're right. It does go to law enforcement which is an incentive for them to keep it going. The auctions for property seized requires a special password to get in - so the auctioned off property is not to the private sector but to the exclusive private sector that is decided upon by those in control. It's a corrupt system and you are correct - they should make it a topic of national debate but apparently it isn't a priority for politicians. Once again -corruption is going on with no consequences.

It actually doesn't matter at this point. Nearly every state has their own civil asset forfeiture laws, so who seizes your property without due process is often determined by which agency was involved. In fact you're probably more likely to have your house or car seized by your local sheriff than the ATF or some other federal agency. They are singularly motivated to deprive you of your property to continue to fund their own local "war on drugs".

Nope:

Modern civil forfeiture expanded greatly during the early 1980s as governments at all levels stepped up the war on drugs. No longer tied to the practical necessities of enforcing maritime law, the forfeiture power has become one of the most powerful weapons in the government’s crime-fighting arsenal.

For instance, in 1986, the second year after the creation of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Asset Forfeiture Fund, the fund took in $93.7 million in proceeds from forfeited assets. In 2008, the fund skyrocketed to more than $1 billion in forfeited assets for the first time in the fund’s history. Changes in the law have had a profound effect on law enforcement priorities. Indeed, in 2008, it was reported that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had ordered Leatherman multi-tools inscribed with the letters ATF–”Asset Forfeiture” and “Always Think Forfeiture.” Researchers point to evidence indicating that the use of state forfeiture is, likewise, extensive and growing.

If you would stop with the kneejerk bullshit rhetoric like this, you'd get farther. This problem has existed long before Obama.
