You can’t eat your way skinny, you can’t drink yourself sober, and you can’t spend your way out of inflation, which is why every Democrat Senator from Joe Manchin to Bernie Sanders is saying the "Inflation Reduction Act" won’t reduce inflation

What are his chances of re-election after signing off on this?

Wow!!! How brave of him to host a round table with exactly 6 expensive suit lobbyists to CONFIRM his vote. I really DONT think that gonna help him at all when he goes back to W. Virginia and holds town halls or answers heated questions.

This is complete political masturbation to find 6 lobbyists for whom you;ve just BRIBED AND DELIVERED federal money to and CLAIM that it's ANY sort of "roundtable".

It's ROUND alright -- like a circle jerk...

It used to be 10% politics and 90% theater.... now it's 100% laughable schtick. It feels like the entire nation has collapsed.

Shouldn't BE funny. But in a way it is. Because it reveals how broken the 2 party system is. And even worse how INSANE the trend towards one party rule in MANY or MOST states is as a "solution".

There are FOUR PEOPLE running Congress. The ONLY time any of the other 531 members become relevant is when they OPPOSE their parties and eventually get "bought out".

Seems to suggest that parties have nested too long and fouled the nest. And that INDEPENDENT voices there are DESPERATELY required to begin to fix ANYTHING. If not independents, than AT LEAST "outsiders with cred" or people who dont INTEND to STAY in office and will ASSERT themselves to party leadership on PRINCIPLED matters.

Manchin : "We had a Senator from Arizona who basically didn't let us go as far as we needed to go with our [prescription drug pricing] negotiations and made us wait two years"

That's a hoax. The wad of cash they are tossing at that is for a LIMITED NUMBER of drug names. Any "savings reduction" or inflation benefit in the future will go to minority portion of the Medicare recipients and NOT to the general population. It's little benefit for huge cost.

AND whatever losses the the pharma companies TAKE on this will be passed on the REST of America.

These folks are RAIDING the treasury to do token things. They just want credit for being "generous". They are NOT problem-solvers.
