Many have been wondering if the Democrats, newly the victors in November's congressional elections, would heed the warnings of the past and moderate their leftist agenda when they assume majority status in the House and Senate this January. Their slide to the left in 1993, typified by Bill CLinton's tax increases and Hillary's attempt to impose socialized health care on the country, was the principle cause of their huge losses in the 1994 elections.

A few of their recent statements yield an answer to this question. The Democrats are not moving to the left... they are stampeding to the left.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH): Calls for cutting off funds for troops in Iraq
http://www.kucinich.us/
Congressman Kucinich called Wednesday for cutting off funding of the Iraq war, as the surest way out of Iraq. His statements were made in an interview by Democracy Now!'s Amy Goodman.
"I want to say that there's one solution here.... it's for Congress to assume the full power that it has under the Constitution to cut off funds. We don't need to keep indulging in this debate about what to do.... There’s enough money in the pipeline to achieve the orderly withdrawal that Senator McGovern is talking about. But cut off funds, we must. That's the ultimate power of the Congress, the power of the purse.

http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/11/13/D8LCB6GO0.html
Hillary's attempt to socialize the U.S. health care system in 1993, amounting to a government takeover of 1/7 of the national economy, was one of the main reasons Democrats were voted out of every Federal majority and most state governorships in 1994. But she hasn't given up the dream of socialized medicine.

http://www.washtimes.com/op-ed/20061004-090355-7594r.htm
Rangel is likely to become the chairman of the House Ways and Means committee.
On Sept. 20, he told Bloomberg News that he "cannot think of one" of the tax cuts passed under President George W. Bush that merits renewal. Nearly all of those cuts expire at the end of 2010. When asked whether as chairman he would consider tax increases across the table, Mr. Rangel replied, "No question about it," according to the Sept. 26 edition of CongressDaily PM.

I know Dr. Emmett Brown is around someplace 'cause it's "Back to the Future" for Dims. Ah I can see it now. Legislation from the bench, socialized medicene, a defense department featuring slingshots, taxation high enough to destroy the economy, and marriages so gay it would make Elton John blush..... Oh boyo!!!!
