I do so with the diligence of a UN translator.

Splitting verbs is usually ok according to Grammar Girl.

There are two different kinds of politically-driven violence: street riots, on the one hand. And bombings and assassinations, on the other.

There are two different kinds of politically-driven violence: street riots, on the one hand. And bombings and assassinations, on the other.
They are so different in kind, that we need two different words to describe them. The word 'terrorism' does for the latter: bombings and assassinations (and possibly similar acts, such as arson and sabotage, if they have lethal aims), carried out by small secretive groups. (I don't think the word 'terrorism' should be applied to sabotage which is not intended to kill anyone. We need some other phrase for that.)

In this category, we can distinguish serious political terrorism, usually carried out by a group, on the one hand, from random psycho attacks, on the other. The Weathermen were serious political terrorists; the Marxist Lee Harvey Oswald was a lone psycho, as was
Timothy McVey. (I'm using the word 'psycho' loosely here.)

On the Right, lone psycho attacks seem to predominate today. Given the loner/psycho nature of the attackers, it's not surprising that their beliefs are often a mix of enviro/leftism and Rightwing anxieties.

In should be noted that over the last twenty years, terrorism that was nipped in the bud by the FBI was often encouraged by its informants -- coming close to legal 'entrapment'. In fact, one sort-of Rightwing group, the Hutteree's, got acquitted in court because the FBI role as provocateurs was too obvious. [ Hutaree - Wikipedia ]

Mass rioting, on the other hand, although it can result in deaths, is quite different from conscious, planned terrorist acts, and needs another word to describe it.

Riots by the Right are rare -- 6 January stands out as a huge exception. Generally, the Right is conservative, supportive, in general, of the existing social order, pro-authority, 'backs the blue'.
Collective effort to attain a political goal is unnatural for the Right, including the collective effort of a riot. (Which is one reason the Right is losing.)

Like the Right, the Left is made up of diverse tendencies, often with counterposed worldviews. Today, Leftist terrorism, in the proper use of that term, in both senses (organized groups vs lone psychos) is rare. Why undertake terrorist activity when you are winning?

So individual murders carried out by Leftists don't occur often.

AntiFa, for example, will cheer when they of the murder of a patriot [Eyewitness account of cold-blooded murder of Aaron Danielson in Portland] but at the moment they tend to confine their violence to mobbing conservative meetings and marches.

The recent murder of a teenage Republican by a Biden supporter probably falls into the 'random psycho' category. [ Republican Teenager Murdered, Media Yawn ]

Summary: the word 'terrorism' should be confined to planned lethal actions carried out in secret -- and we should distinguish between terrorist acts carried out by politically-motivated groups, and those carried out by semi-sane individuals.

Note also: it is incorrect to say that the Democratic Party tops encourage rioting. They're not stupid, and know that this sort of activity doesn't help them electorally. At most, they say nice things about the rioters, since the rioters make up a significant part of their electoral base. Furthermore, most of the riots occur in cities run by the Democratic Party.
