Democratic senator proposes sanctions against Putin over bounties

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) introduced a proposal on Wednesday to slap sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin over reports that Russia offered bounties to Taliban-linked fighters to target U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.
The proposal from Menendez, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, would impose a visa ban and an asset freeze on Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, as well as other Russian officials involved in the targeting of U.S. troops.

Except for the fact that there were no bounties on US soldiers- certainly none proven- it seems like a "reasonable" idea. Holding off on this until there is actual proof of this , rather than rushing into war with Russia over someone which just sounds like bullshit seems prudent.

The plan of Accused Paedophile Sen. Menendez, known primarily for his alleged hiring of Dominican Child Hoes, isn't well thought out. Islamonazi terrorists wouldn't need a bounty from Putin to attack Americans , they already hate our guts.

Sanctions have never changed anything. I pointed this out before. What did our sanctions in Cuba ever accomplish?

I do not support hurting people to promote one's politics.

"Moscow (AsiaNews) – A recently published book has generated a lot of buzz in Russia. Titled The Great Batu Khan, founder of Russian Statehood (Великий хан Батый – основатель Российской государственности), the tome is by Gennady A. Tjundeshev (Haramos), a historian at Khakassia State University (in Asian Russia, where Tatar-Mongols hail from). Its publication has revived the memory of the times of the "Tartar yoke", when Russia was under Asian rule for more than two centuries, between the 13th and the 15th centuries. It has also inspired some comparisons, especially with President Putin, who was re-elected on 18 March and has acquired the status of tsar and great leader. The great Batu Khan was the grandson of Genghis Khan, who, in 1240, imposed the dominion of the so-called "Golden Horde" on the principalities of ancient Kievan Rus, which disappeared from history as a separate entity. The Tatars were defeated for the first time in 1380 in the Battle of Kulikovo. Dmitry Donskoj, Prince of Moscow, led the way inspired by Sergius of Radonezh. Eventually, the city of Kyiv (Kiev) was against itself by the 17th century, but Asian domination ended only in 1480 thanks to the great prince Ivan III, father of the ideology of Moscow as the Third Rome. According to Tjundeshev’s interpretation, Russia has never freed itself from the legacy of the Tatar Khans; instead, it has made it the basis of its civilisation and state organisation. The idea is not particularly new. Napoleon, contemplating Moscow burning in 1812 from the walls of the Kremlin, uttered his famous words: “Scratch a Russian, you find a Tatar”. Many historians recognise the importance of the rule of the Golden Horde in the development of Russian society. The word money, dénʹgi (деньги), comes from Mongolian and survives in the memory of the taxes that Russians had to pay to the Khans to obtain formal diplomas, Jarliq (ярлык), which today means label, price tag, in modern Russian. Thus, today’s Russia is more the offspring of the Golden Horde than Kievan Rus. Tsar Ivan the Terrible, who conquered the last Kazan khanate in the 1500s, incorporated the main Mongolian leaders into the Russian administration. The tsar of "Holy Russia", to whom many today compare the reigning president (Ivan IV and Putin IV), dropped out of government for a whole year, putting one of his Mongol khans, Simeon Bekbulatovich, in his place. On 19 April, in an interview with Radio Svoboda, Tjundeshev reiterated his thesis. "The Golden Horde introduced the imperial spirit to Russia, and Batu Khan was the true founder of Russian statehood [. . .]. The mindset of Russians is mainly Asian. Even if the population is of European stock, only a small minority think within European parameters. This is why,” says the Tatar scholar, “it is so difficult for Russians to learn to be free; they always need a strong hand to rule them.” “In the Russian Duma everyone always votes as the president wants, like in the Kurultáj of Genghis Khan. The founder of the Mongol Empire at the beginning of the 13th century was in reality a very advanced man for his time, able to adapt to different situations and different cultures, including religions. From the Tatars come nations such as China, India, Turkey and Russia, which embrace different faiths like Confucianism, Islam and Orthodox Christianity.”" Putin heir to the Mongol Grand Khans

" Sanctions have never changed anything. " tell it to Iran or USSR LOL

Oil prices have fallen to the lowest since 1991 level . With cost of “black gold” at 15-23 dollars per barrel, the USSR economy collapsed, and the sovok itself collapsed, and the "golden" horde ("russia") budget can only be fulfilled only with oil price at $ 42.4 and higher.

Mar 8, 2020 - The sell-off in crude began last week when OPEC failed to strike a deal with its allies, led by Russia, about oil production cuts. That, in turn, caused Saudi Arabia to slash its oil prices as it reportedly looks to ramp up production.

It's changed nothing. Not a single aspect of daily life has changed one bit for the leaders of Iran or Russia.

All the sanctions did in Cuba was help keep Castro in power.

There's no doubt in my mind Trump is owned by rich Russian gangsters, but he should point out historical examples of US paying bounties to kill Russians in Afghanistan:

"JUNE 30, 2020
Afghanistan Bounties: Pot, Meet Kettle (and Turn Off the Stove!)
by THOMAS KNAPP"

"To date, fewer than 2,500 Americans have died in Afghanistan in nearly 19 years of war.

"The Russians’ 1979-1989 Afghan war lasted about half as long. Their toll was 15,000 dead.

"Why didn’t the Russians get off as lightly as the Americans?

"Because the US government spent at least $3 billion directly funding and arming groups like al Qaeda to fight the Russians in Afghanistan (through the CIA’s 'Operation Cyclone'), and billions more indirectly via the Pakistani government."

as a nation they should be a leader in manufacturing

But instead they produce nothing but oil

1. The "bounty claims" are unproven, probably another democrat "hoax", like "Russian Collusion"
2. Your 2nd link is more accurate
3. There is no KGB, look it up...
4. WTF is OZERO?
On #3, there is, it just went underground.

Of course a Dem is, hoping to make it look legit. That’s what they do.

Your link:

"Brzezinski, known for his hardline policies on the Soviet Union, initiated in 1979 a campaign supporting mujaheddin in Pakistan and Afghanistan, which were run by Pakistani security services with financial support from the Central Intelligence Agency and Britain’s MI6.

"Part of the CIA program was led by their elite Special Activities Division and included the arming, training and leading of Afghanistan’s mujahideen.

"This policy had the explicit aim of promoting radical Islamist and anti-Communist forces to overthrow the secular communist People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan government in Afghanistan, which had been destabilized by coup attempts against Hafizullah Amin, the power struggle within the Soviet-supported Parcham faction of the PDPA and a subsequent Soviet military intervention."

Ziggy's actions in Afghanistan in the mid-70s led directly to 9/11; he hated Russians because of their treatment of his native Poland, not because of any fealty to democracy or freedom.

"Russia’s economy has been stagnating for several years, living standards continue to decline and poverty is increasing. Demographic statistics reveal a shrinking population with high mortality, low fertility and rising emigration. Russia’s population has dipped from 148 million after the breakup of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s to about 142 million today. This total will fall to around 128 million by 2050 and an increasing percentage will be neither ethnic Russian nor Orthodox Christian. Although Russia defines itself as a federation, in reality it is a centralized neo-imperial construct that, unlike Britain or France, has failed to dismantle its empire and develop a modern civic state.

dumping Moscow’s trash in the northern Arkhangelsk and Komi regions, economic exploitation and curtailment of the national language in Tatarstan and other republics, the building of Orthodox cathedrals in Siberia’s Krasnoyarsk region, the falsification of elections in Buryatia, the appointment of outsiders as governors in Kalmykia and other republics, the arbitrary changes of borders between Chechnya and Ingushetia or growing ethnic tensions in Dagestan fueled by unpopular government decisions. Almost any issue can trigger demonstrations against Moscow’s rule and accelerate demands for autonomy and even separation.

A process of awakening is evident in Siberia, the Urals, the Far East and the Far North, where there are growing distinctions with Muscovites even among people viewed as Russians but who settled generations ago and developed distinct local identities. Several of Russia’s federal units possess the natural resources and favorable location to become independent economically once they terminate their exploitation by Moscow. Trade and investment from neighboring European and Asian countries can significantly develop regions such as Kaliningrad, Karelia, Tuva, Sakha, Magadan and other parts of Siberia and the Far East."
Great news for EU, terrible for Nigeria in snow " Gas prices in "russia (Muscovy) " were higher than in Europe"
