Employers are begging for minimally qualified applicants. Many are offering paid on-the-job training.

U.S. employers advertised almost 7.5 million jobs at the end of March, a solid figure that signals hiring will likely remain strong in the months ahead.

The Labor Department says job openings rose 4.8% from the previous month, while the number of people quitting their jobs slipped. There are now 1.2 million more open jobs than there are unemployed Americans, a dynamic that suggests businesses will have to keep raising pay to attract and keep the workers they need.

The figures underscore the ongoing strong demand for labor that exists among U.S. companies, as the recovery nears the end of its 10th year. On Friday, the government said that employers added a surprisingly high 263,000 jobs in April, while the unemployment rate fell to a nearly 50-year low of 3.6%.

Opening the job market may require considerable visits to the unemployment lines at the Welfare office. We have the qualified people, but some would rather live off welfare than work. Others cannot work because they are ill and disabled. At least the businesses are willing to train willing and able people who speaka da English. :lmao:

Not around here so much. They advertise for seasoned technical workers only. If you want one of those jobs you are going to go get education on your own dime in the form of College or Trade School. Then you are going to have to take a low wage job to get the experience. After about 2 years of the low wage job, you are now able to apply for the Technical Job with a pretty good chance of getting it unless the HB types have already filled it.

It's a nothing statistic.

103,000 jobs were lost in April. And 304,000 have been lost in the last two months
(according to the Household Survey - same survey used for the unemployment rate).

And that GDP number is almost meaningless because it is largely based on inventory buildup.

The U.S. economy is “undeniably cooling” despite strong GDP growth, analysts say

Trump just called for QE last week. No POTUS would call for a desperate move like QE if the economy was doing well.

Trump calls on Fed to cut rates by 1% and urges more quantitative easing

ALWAYS look past the headlines. It's common sense.

Once again - I am neither Dem nor Rep (I despise both parties).

And McRocket still doesn’t understand what margins of error or statistical significance are.
The one month change would have to have been more than -591,000 to be significant. The household survey is not very accurate for change in levels. Using rates mitigates that, and sometimes they are the only data we have.

The official jobs numbers are more accurate and the changes have been statistically significant.
