I was watching - Fox news perhaps?
The interviewer was at a prestigious university somewhere and posed the following questions on a celebrated July 4th weekend:
Q: What do the stars on the US flag represent?
A: The stars in the sky.
A2: I don't know
Q: What country are we celebrating indepence from?
A: The United States
"The United States? - We are celebrating independance from ourselves?"
"Yes" The studen replied.
Q: What do the stripes represent?
A:
Q: Who wrote the declaration of independance?
A: Thomas Jefferson
The interviewer at this point jumped up and down and cheered...she could not believe someone knew something about this celebrated holiday.
I have nothing further to add to this sad tale.
