Unhappy With Prices, Ranchers Look To Build Own Meat Plants

People that have been farming the land for 5 generations and want to be able to do it all themselves and not have to hire people to help.

76% of the farms in the US have less than 300 acres.

This is a good thing, not a bad thing

I've given you three links that support my assertions and I can give you more.
I dont care how many generations haven't had the drive to bring their farm to the next level.
Thats their failures.
And how about you give some links on these farmers who have low ambitions.

Here are the numbers...

That you do not agree with how they run their farms does not mean they have no ambition.

How many acres are you operating?

What exactly are you trying to prove with your link?
There's no mention of who has their own silos and who doesnt.

That meat is extremely expensive for what it is...
Sorry... when lobsters are cheaper than steaks it's usually a sign that there's some sort of issue....and it's likely my location. But probably not at the same time.

Market price is much lower.

Beef is usually running around $3-5/lb dressed. (For a whole USDA choice steer) this makes for ALL the cuts.

There are locations to purchase meat wholesale...I haven't done it in decades. But about half of the cost is in the butchering...which if you can handle swinging beef... well you can save a huge amount of money. That hook it hangs from weighs 5lbs exactly. Make sure you don't pay for it too. (Because they never leave the hook behind)
Used to, with Obama..err i mean Biden's economic mastery , he has inflated fuel prices, thus increasing costs to move the beef, more cost to take care of the beef, thank you Obama..err i mean Biden..Nothing has change with Socialists in charge. Everyone will be miserable and poor, except the Progressives elites, but then everyone else will be equal..

Commodities overall have skyrocketed because of a lot of things.
One of which is inflation...but also because of the processing facilities being closed intermittently.

Grain has increased substantially... because it is going to be harvested in North America instead of Brazil this year due to their drought and freezing temperatures. (Coffee futures are really making me money)

But currently the processing is the part that is the most difficult to obtain. Sure hauling cattle around isn't cheap but most is done by boxcar anyway. (Trains are very cheap by comparison of truck....but you have to have a truck there to meet the train...boxcars don't move themselves) only a few processing facilities have rail lines next to them with pusher engines and unloading systems.

But I'd still like to get a half swinging side of beef. I could break that down POC. Meat Buyer's Guide is all I need to remind me of where the cuts go.

I don't blame the ranchers. They do the most work and take the most risk.

Yet they have been getting shafted for decades.

Consolidation is the problem. Only four companies own 80% of the beef processing in our nation.

That's not right.

I hope these ranchers are successful. There needs to be more competition. Capitalism that's not properly regulated has been allowed to create another monopoly in our nation and it's hurting the nation.

The price of beef is ridiculous. Cows are very abundant. There is really no reason for such high prices beyond greed.

Full disclosure, I don't eat beef. I have never liked the taste or smell of it.

Well what a shock.
