Abdulmutallab could not have blown up plane - Discovery.com- msnbc.com

Even if the "Underwear Bomber" Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had exploded his device on Christmas day, 2009, the Airbus A330 would have survived, according to an experiment conducted by a BBC documentary team.

And while the person sitting next to Abdulmutallab probably would have died, the worst injury most passengers would have suffered would have been ruptured eardrums.

"What we tried to do was simulate, as far as we could, what might have happened over Detroit," said explosives expert John Wyatt, who was part of the BBC experiment. "We used the same type of explosive and the same amount and put it in the same position as the bomber."

Looks like AQ has to go back to the drawing board, same way they did after 93 WTC.

The Obama effect ........

The point of this thread intended by the op is?

The point is, his intentions were noble because they wouldn't have blown up the entire plane. Don't you see? It wasn't an act of terrorism, it was just a misunderstood person trying to commit suicide.

Sarcasm Off

Interesting. It always makes me happy when terrorists are too stupid to accomplish their goals.

Well the underwear bomber is screwed anyway for even attempting to do this. He still deserves life in prison with any luck.

Here comes the exploding underwear and other mods to thwart the officials.

I can envision shoes and clothes made out of Semtex and C4 and a high output battery disguised as a cell phone for detonation. :cuckoo:

What it proves is how inept Al Qaeda has become..

They train for a year to get this guy to blow up a plane and all he does is set his crotch on fire.

It turns out even if he was successful he would have FAILED

Another Fuck-up by Al Qaeda

And what if he managed to detonate it somewhere else, say, the cockpit, what would have happened then?

One or two people dying is just as much an act of terrorism as 100.

I wonder why the flight attendents didn't notice anything...
