Under the age of 18 and want to get the vaccination but Mom or Dad say no way Jose

Until a child turns eighteen they are under their parents authority and they don't have a say in the matter. That's life.

The law is on their side in Tennessee. They can choose to get the vaccine if they want. The GOP representatives may have gotten rid of the outreach program and got the Tennessee director of immunization and infectious disease at the state health department fired, but did not change the law that allowed them to choose. If they want it, they just have to show up at the health department during vaccination hours.

Can a teen understand the consequences of getting a vaccination? Not a problem if parents agree that they should and the teen wants to get the shot.

What about the teen who wants to get the shot but Mom and Dad are anti vaccination parents. Does the state need to step in? Well they would have to if the teen has decided he wants the vaccination but needs consent.

Of course the dilemma is how would the parents take it. Can the teen and the parents have a civil discussion? If the teen so chooses does the parents have a right to deny the decision and say no to getting a vaccination? Or should they let the teen get the vaccination if the teen so choices. The teen is then left with no choice but to get the vaccination if he can and now have to deal with parents who may become angry that there child when against their wishes.

I am going to side with the teen. Parents are going to be disappointed in their kids. Yet Kids have to live their life based on their decisions and make tough choices. They have to deal with life where they will make choices that will affect the rest of their lives. A good learning lesson for what lies ahead for them. Some will work out and some will not. It would be nice to have parents that listen and provide advice. Yet they should also respect the young persons decision even if they do not agree.

If the children think their parents' suggestion to get the vaccine or not is improper, they should take them to court and have the issue decided there. In the mean time, no vaccine- as this is something that can't be undone.

Funny how a girl who is under 18 can get an abortion of birth control pills without parental permission but not a vaccine.

I don't know about that as it is a little drastic for children.
I would say that a parent is the adult in this situation. If the kid wants it then they (adults) should step aside and allow it just to keep it civil in the home.
