UFC fighter Irwin Rivera arrested after attempted murder of his sisters
UFC bantamweight fighter Irwin Rivera was arrested Thursday in Boynton Beach, Florida., on two counts of attempted murder, according to reports.
According to a police report shared on social media by MyMMANews, Rivera, 31, told Boynton Beach Police Department officers he “believed that he killed both of his sisters and said that he did so because it was his purpose, which was told to by a higher power.”
Two women, ages 22 and 33, were found with multiple stab wounds at his residence. Both women were transported to a hospital, according to ESPN.
One of the women told officers they had stayed the night with Rivera and awoke to him “repeatedly stabbing them with a knife,” according to the police report. After a struggle, one of the women, whose names were redacted from the report, was able to call police.
