U.S. Test Scores

when you break out the scores by race US whites are caucasian average, and US blacks do much better than other blacks globally.

Any compilation of average scores is of limited value. The important thing is whether any given student is placed in an environment where s/he can learn to the best of his or her ability.

We have a lot of slugs and slackers in this country. We have a lot of people who are raised by a parent or parents who are not qualified or motivated to participate in the learning process. We have large numbers of weak, burned out, incompetent teachers who remain on the job for decades because of government employment policies and collective bargaining agreements that make it impossible to remove a teacher who is a cancer on the education establishment.

All you can do is make sure your kids get the best education possible, and work to elect politicians who are willing to make the hard decisions that are necessary to improve things.

Academics has taken a back seat to social engineering in schools in America and no one is doing anything about it. Stop with the teaching of gay lifestyles, "getting along with our immigrant and culturally different neighbors" and start concentrating on the academics again.

Get the nurses out of schools, get the unions out of schools, get rid of teachers who can't teach and stop social promoting kids. If they don't meet the basics in each grade level, they repeat the grade. No wonder we are the bottom of the barrel!

Liberals have had their way and look what has happened.

This may be true but we have fallen terribly. When I was in school we were number 1 in science and number 2 in math.
The issue is figuring out a way to get students interested in math and science.

Back in the late 1950's when NASA was founded and were involved in space travel and later sending a man to the moon, there was enthusiasm in math and science. There needs to be a way to get this enthusiasm back. Maybe start beefing up the level of instruction in math and science, particularly in grade school.

How to get them interested in math and science? Get them a job cleaning up in an Italian restaurant. Or building roof trusses outside in the hot Florida sun. And stop teaching math and science.

Teach them what people DO for a living. And teach them how things work !!!
Raise the expectations and teach them aeronautics ground school.. Contains all the math and science you need including meteorology, navigation, physics, communication, etc.(for instance)

We're lowering expectations and allowing panicked parentts to make really bad choices about tracking their kids thru fadish and elitist scams like language immersion and gradeless schools for 6 year olds.
Expectations should be going up for ALL. Because if we dont, were condeming entire generations to hopeless labor.

One has to ask if social conditions effect these numbers.
In China and Singapore, there is a work ethic, how about in the states?

Are you sure?
American news outlets may claim this but others disagree.
