U.S. experiences cold and heat extremes but-----but only the cold temps are being reported by the MSM.
Just a couple of weeks ago - record high temperatures here in Phoenix -- a heat wave in AK?
Climate change?

Opposites attract: U.S. experiences cold and heat extremes

December 16, 2013

From NASA's Earth Observatory

While the continental U.S. shivered through an abnormally cold spell in December 2013, Alaska experienced record-breaking heat. Both extremes were caused by an unusual kink in the northern hemisphere’s polar jet stream, which caused frigid Arctic air to move south and warm air to head north.

<snip>

Areas with warmer than average temperatures are shown in red; near-normal temperatures are white; and areas that were cooler than the 2000-2011 base period are blue. Note that Land surface temperatures (LST) are distinct from the air temperatures that meteorological stations typically measure. LSTs indicate how hot the surface of the Earth would feel to the touch. From a satellite vantage point, the “surface” includes a number of materials that capture and retain heat, such as desert sand, the dark roof of a building, or the pavement of a road. As a result, daytime land surface temperatures are usually higher than air temperatures.

This is a "Current Events" forum last I checked. Here is the photo that was on DRUDGE for 24 hours yesterday >>>

The headlines were even more hysterical with stories like cold temperatures akin to the surface of Mars!!!

The current event is that the entire northern hemisphere is so cold, peoples nut sacks are getting lost in their lower pelvis. Only the AGW nutters are sitting around tonight discussing global warming.

Alaskans enjoy near-record temperatures at Anchorage's Goose Lake on Friday, June 14, 2013. The heat wave is expected to last into next week.

umm, you are aware the picture you posted is of an actor in movie scene aren't you? Drudge smudge? Above is a non-fake picture from this summers heat wave in AK but-----but closer to today's date is an excerpt from this report: While the continental U.S. has been shivering from coast-to-coast with temperatures dropping as low as minus-40°F amid one of the most severe early December cold snaps in several years, one state bucked the trend in an historic way.

The same contorted jet stream pattern that brought the brutal cold to the lower 48 states pushed a pulse of milder-than-average air into Alaska, where some spots recorded temperatures unheard of for December.

Ummmmm........that's a summer picture s0n!!! This is a "current" events forum. That kind of photo will be news if it is mid-January in Alaska and they are experiencing a 2 week period of 70+ temperatures.

Aside from that, only internet AGW hobbyists will be interested in summer photos of Alaska.:eusa_dance::eusa_dance::up:

Cycles of weather is not a strange occurrence. That is why we use an average measurement to forecast weather.

Well pilgrim, it's ..like ...winter here in the northern hemisphere so cold news is all you get. The news also reported that a Russian ship is trapped in sea ice in the southern hemisphere but the liberal media forgot to remind low information warmers that the seasons are the opposite down under.
