I don't know about any other states, but in Georgia it wouldn't work.

My girlfriend requested a mail-in ballot, but did not send it in. When we went to vote, the registrar told her she could not vote unless she had the mail-in ballot to show she didn't use it.

I don't know about any other states, but in Georgia it wouldn't work.

My girlfriend requested a mail-in ballot, but did not send it in. When we went to vote, the registrar told her she could not vote unless she had the mail-in ballot to show she didn't use it.

Forgive if this is a dumb question, but I am guessing that requested mail in ballots are kept track of by the powers that be even before they are sent in?

If your vote hasn't been registered by election day you have every right, by law, to fill out a provisional ballot at your polling place. All you have to do is tell them that you voted by mail and they can check to see if it arrived. They'll know if it has.
