To be honest, I'm there to hear what Trump thinks and Welker interjecting her opinions - even truthful ones - is just her making the interview about herself.

But if Welker did it to both sides, she would at least be consistent. Unfortunately, she only seems to fact-check Republicans.

When Welker interviewed Gavin Newsom in Oct 2025, Newsom said Trump calling out the National Guard to protect ICE was a "threat to democracy." Welker asked zero follow-up questions, nor did she ask Newsom for evidence of this. She most certainly did NOT say, "Gov. Newsom, there's no evidence the National Guard protecting ICE agents is a threat to democracy, and now that I got the last word in, here's a new topic."

Newsom didn’t rally a mob to storm the capital over claims he could not prove.

She has every right to challenge Trump for repeating those claims which he still hasn’t provided evidence for.

If Newsom feels that the national guard being called into cities by an authoritarian hungry president against the will of the states is a threat to democracy then I’d say it’s a pretty accurate observation. What more proof would you want?
