It's a good thing he isn't as much a coward as the OP appears to be. Have you not been awake for the last 6+ years? These people are MARXISTS. They are not going to begin to back off and "play nice" if Trump stands down. They will come just as hard, maybe harder, against DeSantis. If Donald Trump really cared about America he would not run again, and I say that with the belief that he is hands down a better President on the economy than Joe Biden and that is my top issue by far. This conclusion is warranted because if Donald Trump runs it is mostly going to be about January 6th and his mishandling of documents and his legal troubles and other non-public policy issues, it won't be about the myriad of issues facing America that we as a country desperately need to responsibly address. It is crystal clear that the Democrats and the "Never Trumper Republicans" and the media are going to use every trick in the book to derail his candidacy. Look at the January 6th commission it was like a grand jury hearing to prosecute Trump, this was a congressional committee it should have been about protecting America from a repeat of the 2020 elections and security at the Capitol, it should have been about documenting why we need to pass something like the bi-partisan Electoral Count Reform Act and why the capitol should have a hard to scale fence that can be pneumatically raised and lowered to provide security at the capitol when needed so no future mob breaches it!
Journalism in America has disintegrated, largely today America's media are advertising whores their primary objective is to sell advertising, for them it is about doing news pieces which capture the viewers attention principles of journalism like promoting what is good and selecting issues that make America's citizens better citizens don't matter. Consider the last two weeks the country has this bill which will have a major impact on inflation, the Inflation Reduction Act, and what does the American people get bombard with all about the FBI's execution of a warrant on Mar-a- Lago. Granted politically it was not the best call but legally it was completely sound and it doesn't warrant the media's obsession with it; the media should have had reports from experts that if they were good would have said this bill will drive up fossil fuel prices and create an abundance of federal government slush funds all which will fuel inflation and cause the Federal Reserve board to raise the Fed Funds rate significantly higher than they would have which will send us into a severe recession next year. The media should have focused on several other serious flaws in the bill. Really the media could have educated the American public to have stopped passage of this disastrous bill. If Donald Trump keeps his hat in the ring for the Presidency the media will do this again and again they will focus on Trump personally and neglect the issues!
Not only if Donald Trump cares about the country but also his Party, the Republicans, he will declare after the mid-terms he won't run again. If the merits of the issues and the economy operates in a normal manner in 2023 America will go into a deep recession brought about by the FED who will have had no choice but to jack up interest rates steeply and the American people will justly blame the Democrats because all this could have been avoided if they just acted as good stewards of the economy; and the America people will be eager to return the Republicans to full power in Washington come 2024 because of the economy! If Donald Trump runs then he will cloud the campaign the race will be about Trump and not about the issues, he will probably still win but his coattails won't be as big his majorities in the Senate and the House won't be as big and that will diminish what he and the Republicans can accomplish with legislation which will cost America!
If Donald Trump decides not to run and announces it after the mid-terms he will be going out on top. He will have had a lot of candidates he endorsed win seats in the mid-terms. The Republicans likely will have won the House which will be a public endorsement that the Democrats are doing a poor job on the economy and Trump and the Republicans did a better job! Donald Trump still has a lot of campaign cash so he can still be around in 2024 and 2026 doling the money out to his favorite MAGA candidates and campaigning for them. Although, he should stay silent on the issues because the media will turn such commentaries into news exclusives and have panelist discussion on it and just suck up news oxygen over it; be like George W. Bush and just ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after!
