ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The US State Department on Wednesday approved the sale of military equipment to the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga forces worth USD $295.6 million.
“The equipment requested by the Iraqi government would outfit two Peshmerga infantry brigades and two support artillery battalions,” according to a statement by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. http://www.kurdistan24.net/en/news/...lion-USD-military-equipment-sale-to-Peshmerga
About time. Why send people when there are people there willing to fight but need weapons.

Tossed Saladin

This is another attack on Assad and the Russians, who are both fighting the world's worst threat to civilization. Romanticizing the Kurd parasites is an immature attitude in foreign policy.

The Kurds have let us down twice. First, in not taking advantage of the destruction done to Saddam's army in the Gulf War. Second, in letting ISIS take over their towns at the beginning of that insurrection. Counting the four countries they are in, the Kurds outnumber the Iraqis. So they are a typically backward pseudo-nation absorbed more in local tribal warfare hillbilly feuds than in joining the post Stone Age world.

So its pisses off all our enemies including Turkey......must be terrible policy for sure

Who's weapons do you think ISIL is using? Who's weapons did Bin Laden and Al Qaeda use? Who armed the Muslim Brotherhood?

We've been sending weapons into the middle east for decades. Every time those weapons are inevitably used for evil, what's our solution? Send more weapons into the middle east. We need to wash our hands of that place.

In order to discourage the Kurds from seeking more independence from the Baghdad government and encourage unity, the US government has long had a policy of only sending arms to the central government which can then decide where to distribute them.
