A lot of it has to do with right wing media which parrots the lies endlessly. The billionaire owners want a right wing fascist government where the working people are kept dependent on government handouts and will work for peanuts.

But the lies have created a nation of wage slaves who are one or two paychecks away from fiscal ruin, who can't afford to get sick. The pandemic has exposed the weakness of "trickle down" society, where the government has trillions of dollars to blow up and rebuild other countries on the far side of the globe, but "can't afford" a quality education for poor children, or heath care for all.

Last, but certainly not least, right wing media blames immigrants, and minorities for being a drain on the public purse, instead of blaming the government tax codes, labour laws, the billionaire corporate decision makers for the decisions to off-shore, and not to provide retraining for displaced workers.

Business leaders are now begging the government to find a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants because they are millions more jobs than there are Americans looking for work. I guess this makes a liar out of Republicans who keep telling American workers that illegals are stealing their jobs.
