Trump Ends Funding for Covid-19 Testing

Texas Sen. John Cornyn (R) pushed back on the decision. "It's pretty clear to me, and I think it's clear to all of us, that with the uptick of cases, now is not a time to retreat from our vigilance in testing," Cornyn said. The move also comes just days after President Trump said at a campaign rally that he told officials to slow down testing because an increase in the number of cases made the country look bad.

TheHill...
Adm. Ben Giroir, the assistant HHS secretary, said in a statement that the federal government is not ending funding or support for testing sites. He said the government "on the contrary" has increased the number of sites to more than 600 in 48 states and Washington, D.C. through the federal bundled payment program, in addition to more than 1,400 other pharmacy sites and Federally Qualified Health Centers.

"The only truthful, but still misleading report in the media, is that we are transitioning 13 sites from the original now antiquated program to the more efficient and effective testing sites outlined above," he said.

"All 13 sites were provided an extra 30 days from the original transition date in May, and I personally spoke with Governors from all 5 states involved, and/or their leadership designees, who agreed that it was the appropriate time to transition out of the original 13 sites and into the thousands of new testing options," he added.

An HHS spokeswoman told Talking Points Memo that the testing program aimed to “develop and bring initial testing capabilities to socially vulnerable locations across the country” and states were supposed to “transition” to control testing at the end of June.
It's amazing how many Liberals are going through Thread and won't read this.
perhaps today, but their plan is to end it

There will come a point where our purchase power drops severely.
The MDs I know say this will last at least another year.

Trump had opposition research attack Fauci & is trying to stop testing before the election.

“Biden and Obama stopped their testing,” Trump said. “They just stopped it. You probably know that. I’m sure you don’t want to report it. But they stopped testing. Right in the middle, they just went, ‘No more testing.’”

President Trump just now at the WH said: "Think of this: If we didn't do testing — instead of testing over 40 million people, if we did half the testing we'd have half the cases. If we did another — you cut that in half, you'd have yet again half of that."

We should completely stop testing so we have no COVID-19. It's the Donald Trump miracle cure.

Yup, Women aren't pregnant until they take a pregnancy test. No baby will pop out within 9 months.

Trump Ends Funding for Covid-19 Testing because he hates seeing rising infection numbers making him look Bad!

"The US federal government plans to stop funding and support for 13 coronavirus testing sites in five states on June 30... The 13 affected sites are located in Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. Funding for these test sites expire June 30, and federal officials are said to have decided not to extend it."

Trump - "Cases are going up in the U.S. because we are testing far more than any other country, and ever expanding. With smaller testing we would show fewer cases!"

So, basically, the GW clause can mean whatever congress wants it to mean. Lol
So what was the point in having enumerated powers when they left them unlimited?
GW can only go so far as being done through the other enumerated powers.
Thomas jefferson "congress had not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but were restrained to those specifically enumerated"
You are welcome.

Statement: So, basically, the GW clause can mean whatever congress wants it to mean

Response: Yep. Of course the final arbitrator will be the Supreme Court, and now that the S. Court has been packed with several activist justices who put the words of long dead white men and slave owners as the final word ... but I digress; we must expect a generation or two of Americans to suffer from a pandemic since any effort by The Congress or an ethical Executive who has empathy to protect We the People from an infection can be over ruled by a 5-4 vote. Sadly, a couple of these are far right wing conservative justice voters are Catholic - I wonder how would Jesus vote?
